We were lucky to catch up with Elle France recently and have shared our conversation below.
Elle, appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
If you don’t love what you do, of course it’s going to be hard to put in work. It’s hard to spend time doing something you’re not excited about.
Stay humble and work hard on your craft, and you’ll see some great things happen. Takes time, but the rewards along the way are worth it.
I have never worried about what other people had “keeping Up with the Joneses” I don’t base my life on other peoples success and what other people have.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Elle France, I am the owner of Cosa Salvaje Tequila.
Started the brand about four years ago. I worked in the sports marketing industry for about 10 years prior.
Before I started the Tequila I went back to the basics and ask my self the question when did I have the most fun time in my life it definitely was when I was wild and free drinking tequila,
Building a brand around a feeling It’s a whole different thing. But it goes back to “ Do what you love” I love music, dancing, laughing, meeting people and making a difference in someone’s life.
I love the whole Tequila industry, the people that I’ve met and work with in Mexico. Tequila and what’s behind it building the brand is my whole life now.
One of the more exciting things that Has come with building this brand safe got to partner with country singer legend Tanya Tucker. This has made such a big impact on me and the brand. She and I have Worked very hard in bringing people together with music and Cosa Salvaje.
They both go hand-in-hand take away your inhibitions and let people enjoy this time we’re here in life. Very excited about expanding the brand. We are currently in 14 states in Canada. And are just so excited to bring our excitement to the world.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Funding a business when you start off with no funding it’s probably one of the biggest challenges. But you have to be willing to give up everything to get everything.
I believed in what I was doing there was no back up plan so spending all my savings and sharing with people my vision helped initially get the business started. If you try to look at the whole picture of what you’re really giving up it gets overwhelming it’s about taking one step to get to the next that way you don’t have the fear of losing everything to get what you want.
There was an excitement to all the things that I was accomplishing along the way that I had no idea what starting a business entailed. And figuring out how to do it all by myself was very empowering.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons that I’ve learned is that nobody knows as much of what you want to do than you. And at the beginning you tend to trust people because you don’t have the confidence and you can make bad decisions and bring bad people in or people that have a different vision and want to take advantage of your ideas. Luckily I didn’t get locked in to making a decision and giving up part of the company to people that I knew were not going to make this business successful. I’ve learned that anybody that says I can hundred percent guarantees or says trust me is not someone that I want to work with. I’ve had a couple of close calls of getting involved with the wrong people but luckily I stepped back and resisted. There’s no fast way to get to success.
I want to work with people that are not afraid to put in the work and enjoy the small successes and don’t break you down. You must have confidence in yourself and your decisions because otherwise you will fail. Do not let other people take your dream away.
