We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Elizabeth Zacero. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Elizabeth below.
Elizabeth, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I would say that you never stop learning and that is the fun part. In my personal experience I wouldn’t rush or speed up anything, because the failures and obstacles made me stronger and wiser, I would say I still have a long way to go and the beauty is about perfecting each craft that I do. My strongest skill along the way is patience and any obstacle given might not even be an obstacle but only redirection in what is truly meant for me.

Elizabeth, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello to everyone my name is Elizabeth Zacero and I am an actress/singer/poledancer/aerial silk dancer based in a small city Kastav in Croatia. I was born in Italy but raised in Croatia which makes me half Italian and half Croatian. I am a proud daughter of an award winning Italian artist Andrijano Zacero and tourist guide Tatjana Zacero along a sister of my also talented brother Patrick Zacero. As both my parents were very sociable I was raised in big circles of friends, people which made me very extroverted and loved attention and performing for them. I would say the love for show business started when I was very young. My stage was the living room where I would harass my mother to watch me all the time and my stuffies. That raised me to not be afraid of my potential because she was very supportive. I wrote my first song in 4th grade and it got awarded and then I performed in a school talent show where I got a lot of positive feedback and was really happy about it. But I was young and didn’t really pursue it straight away, honestly I am glad because as I was young I was also a bit rebellious and it’s for the better to get into the industry when I gathered knowledge about it. My love for acting started when I was 18 on my first acting gig I got as an extra. Loved every bit of the whole process and filmmaking and was watching the professional actors do what they do best and I fell in love immediately. In that moment I knew this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. Let me tell you it is not an easy path but it’s the most rewarding when you get to create something special. I started looking for more gigs acting and singing and literally applied everywhere I could. One thing I am is very stubborn when it comes to my dreams. I didn’t let any bad word or comment get to me. I know that this is my purpose cause I feel it with every inch of my body. I still take acting courses and workshops where ever I can. With pole dancing and aerial silk my craft just got better and my performance skills got improved. If I would recommend anything to get rid of stage fright that is dancing. Dancing is so liberating…

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In this industry you will face a lot of criticism and it’s not for the faint hearted. I was criticised a lot by people saying that I don’t have what it takes when I was younger, you need to ignore those people and remove them from your life, I also faced a lot of jealousy, guilt tripping and sometimes it’s from the person you expect the least. I had a situation where I had to choose between chasing my career or settle. I loved that man with every inch of my heart but he just wasn’t my person. He was a good man but I knew that he didn’t like what I did and was never fully supportive about it. The toughest thing was to say goodbye to him and choose myself. I would say that shows my resilience the most but I simply won’t settle for someone who doesn’t accept me as fully me.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
In my view supporting artists is as simple as getting them viral. One like, click or subscribe can go a long way. Also I would say providing for venues for shows can be very beneficial for both parties.
