For years, we both worked corporate jobs while gradually building our photography business. We believed we needed to reach a certain number of sessions or a specific income level before we could leave our corporate jobs and focus solely on photography. In 2019, we decided to take a leap of faith and pursue our passion full-time. To our surprise, within 30 days, we began achieving the goals that once seemed so distant, allowing us to become fully independent from our corporate jobs.
Many people advised us to have faith and take a chance if we wanted to see our business grow. Like most, we were apprehensive about leaving a secure job for the unknown. However, looking back, we don’t wish we had started sooner or later. The timing was perfect for us because it allowed us to prepare, learn, and build the confidence needed to succeed. The experience taught us the value of patience and perseverance, and we are grateful for the journey that led us to where we are today.

We are Elizabeth and Aaron, the passionate team behind 4 Girls Glamour, based in Minneapolis. Our journey into the world of photography began out of a shared love for capturing beauty and confidence in every individual. With backgrounds in corporate jobs, we decided to take a leap of faith in 2019 to pursue our dream full-time. Since then, we’ve dedicated ourselves to creating a space where women can celebrate their uniqueness and embrace their inner and outer beauty.
Our Services
At 4 Girls Glamour, we specialize in boudoir photography, offering a range of services designed to empower and uplift. Our services include individual and couples boudoir sessions, each tailored to provide an unforgettable experience. We also offer professional makeup services by our talented artist, Jen, to ensure our clients look and feel their best. Additionally, our studio offers luxury albums and metal wall art pieces, allowing clients to preserve their cherished memories in the most exquisite way.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
In 2020, like many businesses around the world, we faced the unprecedented challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our photography studio, 4 Girls Glamour, was thriving, and we had a full schedule of clients looking forward to their boudoir sessions. However, as the pandemic spread and lockdowns were enforced, we were forced to close our studio temporarily. This sudden halt in operations was daunting and left us uncertain about the future.
Rather than succumb to the anxiety and uncertainty, we chose to see this as an opportunity to pivot and adapt our business model. We knew we had to stay connected with our clients and continue to offer value, even if we couldn’t meet in person. Here’s how we navigated this pivot:
Virtual Consultations and Planning Sessions
To keep our momentum going, we started offering virtual consultations and planning sessions. This allowed us to maintain a personal connection with our clients and help them prepare for their future sessions. We used video calls to discuss their vision, wardrobe options, and styling tips. These virtual sessions helped build anticipation and excitement for when we could finally reopen.
Enhancing Our Online Presence
We focused on enhancing our online presence by updating our website, engaging more actively on social media, and creating content that resonated with our audience. We also launched a YouTube channel, The Vovks, where we shared behind-the-scenes footage, photography tips, and personal stories. This platform allowed us to reach a wider audience and keep our brand top-of-mind for existing and potential clients.
Community Engagement
We doubled down on community engagement, particularly within our private Facebook group, ‘4 Girls Glamour Group Minneapolis.’ This group became a place of support, inspiration, and connection for women during a challenging time. We hosted virtual events, shared inspirational content, and created fun activities to keep the community engaged and uplifted.
Expanding Our Skill Set
With more time on our hands, we took the opportunity to expand our skill set. We invested in online courses and workshops to improve our photography techniques and business acumen. This not only kept us productive but also ensured that we were better equipped to serve our clients when we reopened.
Adapting Our Services
As restrictions began to ease, we adapted our services to ensure the safety of our clients and team. We implemented enhanced sanitation protocols, offered outdoor sessions, and staggered appointments to maintain social distancing. Our clients appreciated our commitment to their safety and comfort, which helped rebuild their confidence in booking sessions with us.
This pivot during the pandemic was a defining moment for 4 Girls Glamour. It reinforced our belief in the importance of flexibility, innovation, and community. By embracing change and finding new ways to connect with and serve our clients, we not only survived a challenging period but emerged stronger and more resilient.
Looking back, this experience taught us that challenges are inevitable, but how we respond to them defines our success. We’re proud of how we navigated this pivot and are grateful for the support and trust of our clients and community.

The Story of How We Met
Our journey together began long before we became cofounders of 4 Girls Glamour. We met in high school, growing up in the Iron Range area of Minnesota. Both of us shared a love for the arts, often finding ourselves involved in creative projects and events. Our paths crossed frequently, and over time, we developed a strong friendship built on mutual respect and shared interests.
After high school, we each pursued different career paths but stayed connected. Aaron went into the corporate world, gaining valuable experience in lighting and video, while Elizabeth followed her passion for photography and became known for her exceptional posing and directing skills. Despite our separate journeys, we both harbored a deep love for photography and a dream of turning it into something more.
In 2009, we decided to combine our talents and start a photography business together. What began as a side hustle quickly turned into a shared passion project. We spent countless hours honing our skills, learning from each other, and building our brand. Our complementary strengths made us a formidable team: Aaron’s technical expertise in lighting and video paired perfectly with Elizabeth’s creativity and ability to make clients feel at ease in front of the camera.
As we grew our business, we realized that our shared vision and dedication to empowering our clients set us apart. We were not just business partners; we were a team driven by a common goal to create a unique and empowering experience for everyone who walked through our studio doors.
