Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eleftheria Karakatsina. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Eleftheria, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Taking care of customers isn’t just good business – it is often one of the main reasons folks went into business in the first place. So, we’d love to get a conversation going around how to best help clients feel appreciated – maybe you can share something you’ve done or seen someone do that’s been really effective at helping a customer feel valued?
As the founder of Greek Superherbs, I’ve always taken great pride in the intimate, personalized relationship I share with my customers. I don’t see them just as clients but as extended members of my own family, who have chosen to embark on this wellness journey with me.
This shared commitment to health, tradition, and the beauty of nature, bonds us together as a family. This is not just a business for me, it’s a passion, a vocation. I am not just selling herbal teas; I am selling the very essence of Greek tradition, a healthy lifestyle, and an authentic connection with nature.
One of the most heartening experiences I’ve had in this regard took place last year. There’s a customer of mine, Contance, who has been with me from the early days. She particularly loves our chamomile and lavender blend, frequently sharing with us how it soothes her after a long day.
Contance had been going through a rough patch in her life, dealing with losses of her loved ones and managing the challenges of diabetes. During one of our interactions, she mentioned how much she missed her family holidays in the Greek islands, and how my teas were a small but significant comfort, reminding her of happier times.
Inspired by her story and moved by her situation, I decided to show Contance my appreciation and love. I curated a special package for her, filled not only with her favorite chamomile and lavender blend, but also with a collection of new teas I thought she might enjoy. I included a personalized handwritten note, expressing my solidarity with her during these tough times, and some other healthy Greek treats such as: mastic tears, a sugar free handmade marmalade from Chios, and some fresh Ikarian oregano from my recent trip in the Blue Zone island.
When Contance received the package, she was deeply touched. She sent me a heartfelt email expressing her gratitude and told me how it made her feel seen, cared for, and less alone during a challenging time. That moment of connection, the ability to touch someone’s life and provide some comfort, even from afar, was incredibly rewarding.
Here is a small piece of her email:
“Eleftheria my dear sweet friend,
With all that you have done for me, including the tea combinations to help me, this was something that I truly wanted to do with all my ♥. Sitting here sipping the “Sleep” tea blend and feeling like we’ve been friends forever…a lifelong friendship that blossomed over a cup of tea!!! Definitely is a Greek connection❣❣❣❣😘
I think the next time, it would be so much fun to go to Greece and learn how to pick my herbs. Can only imagine what customs would think of huge suitcases full of herbs??? You cannot see me, but I am truly laughing and imagining their faces…ha..ha..ha.
I wish we lived closer so I could invite you over for a delicious, aromatic, soothing tea along with some meze and desserts
while listening to Greek music. It’s been too long since I was able to travel to Greece, but the memories and friends I made will be forever in my heart.
Love and hugs. Cannot wait to try my new teas, your special blend and those delicious herbs…….it surely will be like Christmas for me….you help me feel not so lonely….you’re a treasure!!!!!”
I believe these gestures of love, care, and respect towards our customers go a long way in building authentic relationships. They help create a bond that goes beyond the transactional and ventures into the realms of shared experiences, common values, and mutual support. Ultimately, isn’t that what being part of a community is all about?

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Eleftheria Karakatsina, the founder of Greek Superherbs, based in East Boston, MA, USA. I moved here from Greece in 2020 and soon realized how deeply I missed my homeland, not just for its natural beauty, but for its produce that is so beneficial to our mental and physical health. This yearning for the vibrant landscapes and the nutritious richness of Greece was the inspiration behind the establishment of Greek Superherbs.
My brand represents the essence of Greek nature and its countless blessings. I offer unique, handcrafted medicinal herbal tea blends, all made from premium wildcrafted herbs, like Greek Mountain Tea, Cretan Dittany, Chamomile, Sage, Peppermint and many more, which are handpicked from notable Greek locations like Mount Olympus, Crete, Ikaria, and Mount Othrys in Magnesia. Each blend is 100% natural, vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free, caffeine-free, antioxidant-rich, and high in potency, boasting an earthy and bold taste that transports our customers straight to the heart of Greece.
The driving force behind Greek Superherbs is respect—respect for nature, for animals, and for all human beings. Our environmental commitment is manifested in my operations, from sourcing herbs at the right time to choosing packaging materials that are 100% compostable, biodegradable, and recyclable. My target customers are not only individuals who respect their well-being but also businesses, such as restaurants, coffee shops, and bakeries that value natural, healthy hydration and nutrition.
With the help of Harvard researchers, I created these herbal tea blends with utmost attention to their nutritional benefits. My goal was to craft blends that serve multiple health needs – from promoting better sleep and relaxation to enhancing energy and focus, improving digestion, and strengthening the immune system. Over time, the effectiveness of these blends has reflected in the appreciation and feedback from my customers, which I consider my biggest accomplishment. I take immense pride in having been able to help many individuals improve their health naturally, and their messages of gratitude have been truly heartwarming.
Although managing a business single-handedly comes with its challenges, particularly when navigating a new country, the love and appreciation from my customers make it a rewarding journey. It’s not just a business for me but a labor of love, a commitment that extends beyond mere transactions.
What sets Greek Superherbs apart is the authenticity of my products, the love for Greek nature, the commitment to customer wellness, and the respect for the environment. And, of course, the fact that I bring you the rich scents and traditional flavors of the Greek countryside, wherever you are in the United States. Greek Superherbs grow in perfect conditions, nurtured by nature itself, and we ensure they retain their scent and flavor from the moment they’re picked until they reach you.
One of my core beliefs and something I attribute to the success of Greek Superherbs is ethos, or integrity. I believe in being true to nature, to myself, and to others. I believe that people recognize and appreciate the raw, natural quality of my products, and this mutual respect and appreciation are what make it thrive.
Ultimately, Greek Superherbs is more than a brand – it’s a lifestyle choice, a connection with nature, and a tribute to Greek tradition. I invite everyone to welcome Greek Superherbs into their life and let these pure and natural blends be their daily wellness companion.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Launching Greek Superherbs was indeed a challenge as I had no initial capital or funding to kickstart the venture. However, what I did have was a dream, determination, and a decade-long background as a creative and marketing director.
My journey started with a humble beginning—importing under 15kg of herbs from Greece to Boston. You could say it was almost a leap of faith, driven by my passion for Greek nature and its medicinal herbs.
The financial constraints, however, didn’t deter me. Instead, it made me rely heavily on my skills and experiences. My background in creative and marketing played a significant role in setting up the brand. I leveraged my skills to handle all aspects of branding in-house, from website design and product packaging to labels, product photography, and social media. By managing all these tasks myself, I was able to keep the initial operational costs low.
Gradually, as I started selling the first batches of herbal teas, I began to reinvest the profits back into the business. This allowed me to gradually increase the volume of herb imports and expand the product range. The entire process was slow, requiring patience and careful planning, but it also allowed me to grow the business sustainably.
One key lesson I’ve learned in this journey—and it’s something I often reflect on in my yoga practice—is the virtue of patience. In a world that often seeks instant results, patience may seem like an anomaly. However, in my experience, it has been instrumental in steadily building Greek Superherbs. It has taught me to value each small step forward and appreciate the growth that comes with time. So, while the journey of Greek Superherbs began without substantial capital, it was the patience, resourcefulness, and a strong vision that truly fueled its growth.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building an audience on social media for Greek Superherbs was as much an organic journey as the creation of our herbal blends. From the start, my strategy was anchored in authenticity and transparency—just being myself, which I believe is key for any brand starting to build their social media presence.
My approach to social media has been about showing my audience who I am as a person, my philosophy, thoughts, habits, lifestyle choices, and how all these tie into the brand I’ve built. Rather than concentrating solely on the products, I focused on sharing their significance in my life and how they can be integrated into others’ lifestyles.
Social media, in my view, isn’t just a platform for marketing products; it’s a space for storytelling and building connections. I shared my journey of moving from Greece to Boston, missing my homeland’s produce and its benefits for mental and physical health, and how that led to the birth of Greek Superherbs. It was important for me to communicate not just the brand, but also the values and ethos behind it.
In the process, I discovered that people resonate with authentic stories and genuine passion. I posted about the places from where I source our herbs, how they are handpicked, how they are beneficial for health, and how much respect I have for the environment in the production process. It wasn’t just about selling herbal teas but about sharing a lifestyle choice—a choice for health and wellness.
The advice I’d offer to anyone starting to build their social media presence is simple:
1. Be authentic: Let your brand’s true personality shine through your posts. It could be your journey, your philosophy, or your unique selling proposition.
2. Connect with your audience: Engage with them, respond to their comments and messages, and make them feel a part of your brand’s journey.
3. Consistent storytelling: Each post should communicate a part of your brand’s story and mission.
4. Quality over quantity: A few well-thought-out posts that resonate with your audience are better than many posts with little relevance.
5. Value addition: Try to provide some form of value to your followers—be it tips, facts, or information related to your industry.
Remember, social media is about building relationships, and relationships take time to develop. Patience and consistency are your friends in this journey.
