We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Eia Vasco a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Eia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
The name of my company is something all my clients get a kick out of. “Run On Sentences” was an unreleased mixtape by Mac Miller. I found myself editing for hours on end with it playing in the background. The mixtape also had a lot of influence on how I would get inspired to create photography, and visual arts in general. In the end it was also a tongue & cheek reference. “A picture speaks a thousand words so I created run on sentences”

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I had suffered from an anxiety disorder my whole life. It hindered me from chasing my dreams for years. I had this debilitating fear of meeting new people, or having any form of small talk. Being responsible over my own business forced me to challenge these fears, and allowed me to turn my anxiety into excitement. I started with all types of photography gigs that involved real estate, babyshower, newborn photography, commercial work, and ultimately found myself specializing in couples photography. I realized I could challenge these fears of social anxiety with every shoot no matter how crippling. I told myself I would just do it scared if it meant I could go home, and edit alone for hours for my introverted time. 3 years later I I’m over 100 5 star reviews in, and knew what it took mentally to push through all that discomfort in the beginning.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
From the start I was told by clients that my turn around time was unprecedented. I could have 60 to 200 quality edited photos ready the next day, and even sometimes the night of. I blame it on my ocd, but really I found color correcting, and editing for hours right after a shoot was a way of decompressing from the actual shoot. My ability to look at a thousand photos, and sort each one within seconds became a superpower that a lot of my clients praise me for. being able to have one of the best moments of ur life in photos so quick would blow people away since none of the quality of the work was sacrificed. People say you can’t have something affordable, fast, and great quality. Yet I was able to give my clients all 3.
