We recently connected with Eduardo Donawa and have shared our conversation below.
Eduardo, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made?
Best investment made was the patience to acquire the skill set needed to pursue long term goals. I can’t express how many people quit due to lack of the patience, mental capacity, lack of hustle. You have to see things through or trust the process. For me personally it was a brick by brick system in the beginning. Alot of people expect the reward before the work and that’s not how I view things. Longevity is key so the short term gratification has to be eliminated from your ways of thinking to see things clear. If not the amount of money and effort can be waisted and you can’t get neither back especially due to the pandemic and inflation. Having the skills and tools from the right connections, right presentation, to our customer/client/subscribers satisfaction in any of our related industries is a determing factor in our brands success.
Worst investment was an early product we released which were the 2nd edition dk detroitheadphones. We have an electronics division of the #dkdetroitbrand and the research and development was not done properly. The campaign was rushed and when the products came I was not satisfied with the manufacturing or quality. So this meant money was waisted and the product never got released. Back story, we’ve released 4 editions of headphones we are now on our best product yet but when we started our 1st editions did great. Without a marketing team I tried to repeat with the 2nd edition, rushed the project and learned a valuable lesson. Research and Development is just as important and profits.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I’ve gotta good one for the readers about my first time flying to Atlanta from Detroit. An event for business networking was held on a Saturday morning at the gathering spot in the business district north atlanta. My red eye flight arrived around 2am at Harrisburg Airport in Georgia. I purchased the flight and rental car package thinking I could just simply get a hotel once I got there. I didn’t know that the hotels there did not allow you to get a room that late at night. The event began at 9am so being tired from the flight I chose to sleep in the car in the parking lot of the hotel. No room to change so I drove back to the airport to use their facility to change clothes and make it to the event on time. Once the event was over I enjoyed my stay and settled. In conclusion you have to do what you have to do at any moment.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn is that the money won’t solve everything. Sometimes it’s the people you know that can help and other times people in powerful positions can mislead you by taking your money so they can continue to live their life by ripping off the inexperienced or beginners.
