We were lucky to catch up with Edin Cuskovic recently and have shared our conversation below.
Edin, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
The grass is always greener on the other side! That’s a thought that goes through our minds, especially when we go through challenging times. About 4 years into running my own business, I was exhausted! When I left employment, my boss knew that I was going to go out on my own and, while being positive and encouraging, also forewarned me that entrepreneurship comes with challenges and more “jobs” – I’d have to be responsible for marketing, sales, IT, HR, fulfillment, etc. It didn’t click. Then, in 2020, it finally came full circle! I was overwhelmed with everything and considered selling my practice. I even spoke with a broker. I also spoke with some peers and my wife.
One of my friends suggested that I read the eMyth (I ended up reading the eMyth Revisited) as it illustrated the problem I was having. After reading this book, I realized the problems I was having were created by me, and that I can also solve them! I mapped out what I wanted my business to look like and spent a few hours per week working towards this new vision. While it wasn’t and still isn’t always easy, I am now much happier and can’t imagine switching back to being an employee.
The biggest takeaway is that we all have ingrained limiting beliefs. We must address those in order to grow and be happy!

Edin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My family migrated to the US in 1999 and I was 10 years old at the time. To keep it short, I started learning about taxes and investments when I was 11 years old, and slowly progressed to where I am today. My practice now focuses on helping service-based businesses make, manage, and multiply money. We have a systematic approach to do this, so it’s not guess work. It’s rather scientific and works. How do I know this? It’s worked for me personally, as well as dozens of clients!
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I’ve always focused on the outcome rather than the tasks or money. I’ve always believed that the money will come if I take care of people and deliver results, and this has been very true.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Two major pivots stand out for me in life: the first came when I decided to join a small-ish firm (18 employees) instead of a big firm out of college. It was a mental shift. My whole life and college time, I was being drilled by the idea that I had to go to a big, name-brand firm for my resume and career growth. However, during my interviews, I was convinced that a smaller firm was a much better place for me to learn and grow quicker. Sure, I lost some of the luster of a big brand name, but I wouldn’t be where I am today. The second pivot came when I decided to stop pursuing the traditional partner track and instead build my own firm. It required me to refocus and realign immediate goals. It required me to sacrifice a lot in terms of both money and time. And it was totally worth it!
