Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eddie Possehl. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Eddie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
If I’m being the worst for an interview, I’d say that every project I work on has profound meaning to me in one way or another—or I wouldn’t be making them.
However, I’m currently working on an animated film raising awareness and fundraising for the charity known as Child’s Play. We’ve set it in the universe of Sonic the Hedgehog, so it’s something that kids can find familiarity and comfort in. We’ve got an incredible cast, most notably Jason Griffith, the legitimate voice actor for Sonic from 2003—2010, returning to the character. This has been my first project that really exploded in popularity online, and I am hoping that will lead to lots of money raised for Child’s Play.
On February 10th of last year, I lost my first-ever niece, who passed at 9 months old. She never got out of that hospital system. I never got to meet—only over FaceTime—or hold her, and she would never know who I was. That really broke me for quite some time. It’s something I will never forget. I think about and see her every day. She sits on my desk right to my left in a photo frame via my favorite photo of her. That heartbreak eventually turned into an insane drive. All she ever knew was that hospital—a cold environment—and if there was something I could do to help other kids in the system live better lives through helping Child’s Play, I knew that I had to do it.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I’m a filmmaker, born in St. Paul, MN, and now live on the West Coast in CA. I’ve known exactly what I’ve wanted to do since before I can remember. Genuinely. Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 had a bonus disk with a feature-length documentary on how the movie was made. That showed me what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, and my passion for the craft has never wavered.
Aside from my personal creative works, people hire me for services like video editing and technical directing. I work for YouTube personalities like Matthew James Duffy, and even MN-based projects like Matt Allen’s Sidekicked.
The main thing I want people to know about me and EarthCore Media, LLC is the dedication I have to creating entertaining content that can matter to people.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Abandon A.I.! I think a lot of people are very uneducated on how genuinely harmful generative A.I. is to not just the environment, but the creative ecosystem, as well. Things like X’s Grok have made incredibly disturbing pictures of minors, ChatGPT has encouraged activities that are harmful to users, and much more. It rips jobs away from genuinely talented creatives. Many think that their use of A.I. is okay because they’re using it for homework and asking it questions, but the use of these platforms and services—no matter what the use is—supports them and allows them to continue harming society, the environment, and creatives everywhere.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
One of my earliest goals as a creative was to one day make something that makes people feel the way Spider-Man 2 made me feel. So, seeing people react positively is extremely rewarding. Could that seem a bit egotistical? Potentially. But making a genuine impact on someone with something you created is a feeling unlike any other.
