Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eddie Acker . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Eddie , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with a hypothetical question – if it were up to you, what would you change about the school or education system to better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career?
I would love to see the school system implement a curriculum on mental health. Many children struggle with mental health but sometimes it goes unnoticed because parents, teachers, or peers do not know what to look for or suggest. Of course I am not suggesting that other peers diagnose, but if they are aware they can alert staff. At times if they hear of another student who is contemplating suicide or something hazardous to self or others, they will know to speak up in hopes that the student can receive the proper help.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
For as long as I could remember I have always found myself helping others sort through their issues. To be honest, I believe it is a gift from God to be able to help someone in a time of need. This way of life ultimately led me to being a surrogate brother to many men and women, I became a friend to those who others deemed were not friendly. Ways in which I help is advising, mentorship, books I’ve written, and workshops designed to cultivate a greater sense of self awareness as well tools on how to better cope with anxiety. What sets me apart from others is that I actually love people more than my craft. I am not being to others out of duty or for money, it’s all done from a place of love.
What I am most proud of is when I get to see others lives changing as a result of our relationship.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Consistency is key. Sometimes we do not believe we are being effective because we do not have a “large” following. I learned to redefined large as I believe that one person being impacted positively is large within itself. I continue to push content to the faithful few I have and as a result they spread the word.
We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
I sale on my site as well as Amazon. Amazon doesn’t yield a great turn around as it pertains to profits and payout but it does give the entire world access to your content. My website has been very beneficial as it permits me immediately receive proceeds from purchases. It also permits me to connect with those who subscribe to the site.
