We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Easton Evans a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Easton, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
My best success has come from word of mouth and marketing. Taking the time to connect with somebody is so important because when fulfilling a job or client you’ll have more success. I’ve talked to many people and the one thing that always can connect me to a job is having a social connection. It’s harder to market things than getting them out by word-of-mouth because a person can connect with you and be more happy to work with you. It’s Better in person than online, it is possible to connect with somebody online but it is a little harder than a live interaction.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Easton Evans I am a social media manager for companies and a freelance videographer And photographer. I have been in the film and videography industry for 5 to 6 years now doing everything from blockbuster movies to YouTube videos. My business name or social media handle is called Breakout Films where I do most of my Content or client work. The thing I’m most proud of is being able to learn more about what I do as a career every day and embrace the fact that I need to work on things to make my work the best it can be. One of the things that makes me stand out from others is the fact that I can connect with a person on a different level than just doing the job. Some of the companies that I have worked for our Specialty Painting, Tint World, and my own with a growing variety. One thing that I want my fans to know, or my audience is that I like to do my content in a more creative way than other people do that can grab their attention and be able to bring them to a social aspect.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best way I get clientele is being able to interact with the car community and other business owners. The one thing I do the most in my career is doing car promos for private owners. Who wants to show off their cars. Sometimes I meet these people out in public at car shows or just at your local food store. This same thing applies to business owners. The connection between you and a person is the most valuable thing when it comes to finding new clients. From the time you open your mouth and talk to somebody to the end of the conversation is where you can be able to interact and fully express what you do and what you love to do. I think of it as if we were all on a cruise take for example, if you were on a cruise with your family and you wanted to go out and do a fun activity but you had nobody to go with because your family was busy. So you went by yourself and you went knowing that you’re going to have fun doing what you love. So you go and just have a fun time but then all of a sudden you meet somebody with similar interests and they ask if you want to hang out later because of the connection. That is the same thing with finding clients if you go knowing that you have the same interest or knowing that you’ll be able to find somebody in a very socially connected event while doing what you love or your career that connects you with that person. Then you might be able to find people who want your work with doing social networking.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
The one thing that has helped me with my reputation is social media. Connecting with an audience, and being closer to people in a place where you have similar interests, can also provide a way to be able to find clients and jobs. Coming from a freelance background, there is a wide variety of people who need videography, photography, or digital marketing. The one thing that is helping me the most is making a LinkedIn profile. I suggest that if you are a business owner or if somebody who is starting with a freelance to have a LinkedIn. Because you can be able to connect with other business owners or people who want your work in the future.
