Dyamond, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea for DYME PRIVÉ during the pandemic when everything slowed down and I finally had time to focus on something meaningful. My mom and I spent a lot of time together talking about business, fashion, and building something of our own, and that’s where the vision started. I began designing my first handbag and looking into how to bring it to life through manufacturing.
What made it feel worthwhile was that it wasn’t just about starting a business it was about creating something with someone I loved. But in 2021, I lost my mom, and that changed everything. I stepped away from my brand to focus on my mental and emotional health because I needed time to heal.
During that time, I realized DYME PRIVÉ was more than just an idea it became part of my healing process. When I came back in 2026, I came back with purpose. I wasn’t just building a brand anymore, I was continuing a legacy. My signature pyramid design represents strength, growth, and rebuilding yourself, and that’s what makes DYME PRIVÉ different.

My name is Dyamond Strickland, and I am the founder and creative director of DYME PRIVÉ, a luxury handbag brand built on purpose, resilience, and bold design. I started my journey during the COVID-19 pandemic when I had the time to focus on creating something meaningful. My mom and I came up with the idea together, and I began designing handbags that would stand out and make women feel confident and powerful. I specialize in statement handbags, including my signature pyramid-shaped bags, which represent strength, elevation, and individuality. My goal is to create luxury pieces that not only look good but also tell a story and make women feel seen. In 2021, I lost my mom, and that moment changed my life. I had to step away from my business to focus on my mental and emotional health. During that time, I realized that DYME PRIVÉ was more than just a brand it became part of my purpose and my healing journey. What sets me apart is that I’m not just creating handbags I’m creating meaning behind every piece. DYME PRIVÉ represents turning pain into purpose, and it speaks to women who are rebuilding themselves and still choosing to show up strong. What I’m most proud of is not giving up. I returned in 2026 stronger, more focused, and determined to continue what I started. DYME PRIVÉ is more than fashion it’s legacy, growth, and proof that something beautiful can come from your hardest moments.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of the biggest moments of resilience in my journey was after I lost my mom in 2021. We started DYME PRIVÉ together during the pandemic, and when she passed, I had to step away and focus on my mental health. That was one of the hardest times in my life, but it also showed me that my brand was more than just a business it became part of my healing. Coming back in 2026 was my way of continuing what we started together. It taught me that resilience is about finding the strength to keep going, even when life changes everything.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots in my life happened after I lost my mom in 2021. We had started DYME PRIVÉ together, and after she passed, I had to step away to focus on my mental and emotional health. During that time, I realized my brand was more than just a business it became part of my purpose. When I returned in 2026, I came back with a new mindset, focused on building something meaningful and continuing what we started together.
