We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dr. Dorily Esquilin Perez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dr. Dorily below.
Dr. Dorily , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Looking back on your career, have you ever worked with a great leader or boss? We’d love to hear about the experience and what you think made them such a great leader.
I have learnt some extraordinary lessons from my current supervisor, Dr. Joan M. Browne. She leads with poise, compassion, knowledge, professionalism and with the desire to see you develop, mature and grow. I began working under her leadership in 2021, and my professional perspective has seasoned through her mentoring, care and role modeling. She has walked alongside my professional journey providing me with guidance, assertiveness, confidence and support. She believed in my capabilities, character, work ethics and dedication. She gave me an opportunity in a position which would challenge me, knowing I would not let her down. Although at times she teaches with tough love, the “tough” never becomes unbearable. She confronts you to love and respect the woman in the mirror. She pours into you until you embrace you!
Dr. Browne, a natural born leader, a woman who is not scared of challenges, who is assertive enough to lead you with a strong hand, yet a soft heart, who sees the best in you, and who provides spaces where you can become the best version of you, has been a true inspiration. She does not seek fame, standing ovation, or applause, yet, when she speaks, she demonstrates a confidence we all admire.
She is not afraid to push you forward, to push you to the limit, to expose the gem you have within. She is not bothered to see you succeed, nor is she insecure to stand in your way. If she sees your light shines, she lets you shine and cheers you on. The team is her team and she advocates for her team at all cost. She is 100% true to herself first and then to those she leads. Under her leadership, I have learned what team and leadership is all about. A caring heart, empathy, compassion, respect, transparency and honesty are a few qualities she possesses. Her kind spirit and professionalism has inspired me. I am thankful for her life, and I honor her for the time she has invested in me and so many!
Thank you for blessing my life, Dr. Joan M. Browne!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Dr. Dórily Esquilin and Dr. Alexander Rúa are the CEOs of DLC Consultants Inc, a nonprofit organization that focuses on educating, mentoring, and coaching couples. Our main goal is to provide couples with information, tools, and resources to ensure their individual and personal stability as well as their relational growth using biblical principles. The tools and resources are geared to present everyday life situations and the respective lessons to be learnt from them. These tools are meant to confront the individual, to move them from theory to action, and to ensure its daily application to the individuals’ life, providing an environment of safety and growth in their relational journey.
As speakers, we have witnessed the need and continuous barriers couples experience while seeking to develop a stable and happy relationship. This need pushed Alex and I to develop DLC Consultants Inc, to provide couples with a strong biblical foundation and the application of practical tools to embark on their journey to a happy relationship. With that goal in mind, we published our book: ¡Un día a la vez! Retoma el norte de tu matrimonio (One day at a time! Retake the north of your marriage). The book consists of 52 topics every couple should discuss and apply to their relationship. We offer practical ways for the development of emotional connection, the respect of the individuals’ needs, the understanding of one another and the development of effective communication skills that encourages relationship building and effective emotional structure.
Through our organization we offer pre-marital and marital coaching. We also conduct conferences, we are the hosts of “Mentoría Matrimonial 101 con Alex y Dorily” (Marriage Mentoring 101 with Alex and Dórily), the last Thursday of the month at 9:30 pm (EST) via Facebook and YouTube. Our success has been achieved by the grace of God and our commitment, passion, honesty, and servanthood. Our daily motto is to be constant learners. We are committed to learn in order to serve and educate with excellence!

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
The co founder of DLC Consultants Inc and Mentoría Matrimonial 101 con Álex y Dórily, is my husband Alexander. We married in 2015. We met in August 2014, talked for the first time in October, went on our first date in November, got engaged in December and married in July 2015. Yes, you can say that it was a match made in heaven and orchestrated here on earth. Today, ten years later, we have journeyed married life embraced by God’s grace. It has been a wonderful experience, where we have grown and have been a blessing to other couples. We became speakers, authors and facilitators for others. It is then that we decided to gain greater knowledge, tools, and resources by completing certifications and academic degrees to better serve. We became certified as Pre-Marital and Marriage Coaches, to fully gain not only the tools through our own experiences, but through the teachings of those who have walked in the “shoes” of marriage for a long period of time. We also earned a Doctoral degree in Chaplaincy and as Christian Counselors. One of the most fulfilling experiences and blessings in life, it’s to not only work side by side with your business partner, but to work with a business partner who is also your husband and best friend. Thank you Alex!

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Our road should never be smooth. I have learned that a smooth road means that we have missed the opportunity to learn and grow. The obstacles we face in life, if embraced with an open mind, give us the tools and experience we need to take advantage of future opportunities. Roadblocks are moments where our faith, capacity, ability, and passion are tested. We must embrace them with pride!
At some point, we struggle with the uncertainty of knowing if the path we are walking in is God’s purpose. We might have a desire, but God’s desire for us might be different. Learning to hear His voice and permitting His Spirit to lead us is key to becoming successful in what we do as servants. We must understand and know who we serve. We need to decrease in order for God to increase in us and through us. That’s my message for you today. If you want your life to change for the better, surrender your life to the one that can turn it around, Jesus Christ! If he did it for us, he will do it for you! Blessings!
