We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dominique Gabriella a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Dominique, appreciate you joining us today. Do you think folks should manage their own social media or hire a professional? What do you do?
I have a team member who helps out with the majority of the Instagram post but I take care of everything else.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Music has always been a huge part of my life since I was a child. This encouraged me to go for a degree in electronic media production and entertainment/band management. After college, I started managing bands and working in a couple of venues as a booking manager. I also was asked to be on the board of directors of a local non-for-profit called the Springfield Area Music Industry. This then led me to a job managing the Springfield branch of “After Hours,” a Branson, Missouri-based marketing/promotion media company for entertainers. This company ended up dissolving due to bad ownership in mid-July of 2020. On July 27th, 2020 with the help of the Springfield Are Music Industry, On The Scene was started. OTS is similar to what After Hours provided with marketing/promotion media outlet, but with a different “flair,” focusing mainly on the local music community.
A snapshot of what OTS is: I make a weekly list of everything going on, entertainment-wise, for every day of the week. When at an event we interview entertainers, take pictures, and videos of the event.
We have a few different video segments: “OTS Top Event Picks” (what event we think someone should attend) “Last Week On The Scene” (what we were up to the previous week), and “Behind The Scene” (in-depth interview to get to know the local entertainer or venue)

How did you build your audience on social media?
When we are in the field we always share our “business card” which has a QR code. We also always share our content on all social media groups that are relevant to our market.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Always attend events or when out and about, making it a point to share what On The Scene is all about. Networking is always the key!
