Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to DJ Peaceboii. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
DJ, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
In 2020, I made the pivotal decision to transition into a career as a professional DJ. During the pre-pandemic months, I dedicated myself to rigorous practice, ensuring my technical skills were strong enough to compete in a professional environment. While the world was on pause, I used private events to refine my performance style and build confidence.
By 2021, I realized that I wanted to invest my energy into building my own brand rather than working for others. I decided to leave my delivery job to focus entirely on my craft. I entered a market where many established DJs had decades of experience, which motivated me to commit to an intense practice schedule to bridge that gap. This period was also a personal turning point; by aligning my daily work with my true purpose, I found a new sense of direction. Once I fully committed to this path, I began to see a significant increase in professional opportunities and industry connections.

DJ, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Known professionally as Peaceboii, I am a high-energy DJ, MC, and dancer dedicated to creating unforgettable atmosphere. My entry into the industry was marked by a pivotal collaboration with international artist Libianca, which served as a springboard for my career. Since then, I have performed on international stages while simultaneously building a strong reputation in my home city through the production and hosting of my own events.
I specialize in a diverse, seamless blend of genres, including Afrobeats, Hip-Hop, Dancehall, and R&B. My goal is always to bridge different vibes and bring people together through music.
My journey has been defined by resilience. Despite facing significant professional challenges and attempts to hinder my progress, I remain deeply committed to my craft. I acknowledge that growth comes with mistakes, and I am currently in a season of deep accountability and continuous learning. I am driven to be the best in my field, but I refuse to compromise my integrity or my true self to reach the top. Guided by my faith and a “people-first” mindset, I lead with authenticity—believing that my only true competition is the person I was yesterday.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For many, the most important part of any work is the ability to communicate who they are. It can be a challenge to find the right words, particularly when there is a lot of social pressure on men to avoid showing any signs of vulnerability or “softness.”
To handle these complex emotions, that energy is channeled into a creative craft. While performing as a DJ, it’s possible to release bottled-up feelings and transform them into something positive and fresh. Beyond personal relief, there is a deep professional pride in seeing an audience happy. Creating an environment where people feel free to dance and smile is one of life’s greatest rewards.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the most valuable lessons in career development is realizing that setbacks are rarely final. Whether you face a professional mistake or a loss, there is always an opportunity to recover and move forward. Success often requires the ability to evolve and “rebrand” your professional identity. By continuously developing new skills and adapting, you prevent others from pigeonholing your potential, ensuring you remain a versatile and unpredictable asset in the workplace.
