We were lucky to catch up with Diego Santos recently and have shared our conversation below.

Diego, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?

Putting your customer base first is the most important thing. Understanding their needs and behaviors helps you serve them best. Equally important is taking care of your staff, ensuring they have the training and resources needed to succeed. Combine this with a strong salesforce and you are on a pathway to success.

Diego, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I got into the Event Management Industry by purchasing a company in the space. I knew I had a few key attributes that would lead to my success in the space, so I decided to put my money where my mouth was and bought it. I’m most proud of nearly tripling the size of the business within 1 year of ownership and we have scaled and grown tremendously since I’ve come into the picture. I have created an amazing work environment and I really enjoy taking care of my staff and serving our clientele. We have the highest rating in our niche of Luxury Picnics in Southern California.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?

I see life experience as a valuable resource. After dropping out of college, I gained skills from various jobs and applied them to my business. Every day is a learning opportunity. Initially, I used YouTube and Google, then tested ideas myself, analyzing results and avoiding repeated mistakes. You can get very far by learning through experiences and tracking your outcomes.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?

I enjoy keeping the team fired up with our plans for the future. I keep everyone informed on any new services we might begin providing soon, new companies i’m looking to acquire, or the exciting bookings we have on our calendar. Everyone is well informed and knows where we’re headed. I give everyone an opportunity if they want it. This is place to prove yourself and I will make sure you get a return on your efforts. With this type of culture, this can keep morale high and the team excited.
