We recently connected with Diamond Desireé and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Diamond, thanks for joining us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
I’m an independent artist, which means I have to rely on myself for the majority of my work. I don’t have a team to help with create content, book gigs, schedule interviews, and the like. As a singer/songwriter, I’ve also adapted to write and fully produce my own music. I write, sing, make the beat, mix, and master the entire production. My goal is to continue to make music I love and go on tour next year as an opening act for another artist!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Diamond Desireé and I’m a Singer/Songwriter from Los Angeles, California. I was born and raised in Los Angeles County and I’ve always loved being around music. My dad is a music producer and he introduced me to a plethora of different genres and styles. I grew up going to the studio and have always loved singing and songwriting, I wrote my first song when I was about 7 years old and it wasn’t until I was 20 that I decided to pursue this as a career. I learned how to produce and make beats and released my first song, “It’s Not Me, It’s You” that same year. Since then, I’ve pursued my dreams as an independent artist, performing at my dream venues, having incredible opportunities, and recently releasing my debut self-titled album, “Diamond Desireé”. I’m proud of myself for following my dreams and going for it. When I have a goal, I put my mind to it and try my best to accomplish it. I create music because I love to express myself in various ways. Music has always been an outlet for me as well, and I want a chance to be that outlet for others.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I’ve always created silly short videos for my friends and I. I realized that the strategy of being myself and creating skits has been rewarding because I end up doing what I love and finding an audience by being myself. I would tell others to just be yourself. I’d rather have people like who I genuinely am rather than put on a façade being something that I like. It’s less tiresome that way!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is simply creating. I love the process of making something new. To have an idea and make it into something tangible and beautiful is a feeling I can’t fully describe. The idea of releasing it out to the world is fulfilling as well. I’m honored to share my art with others and I love hearing the feedback.
