We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dez Stackz a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dez , thanks for joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I learned how to make music by being guided through the process, starting with my best friend at the time. The first song I ever created came from that collaboration, and from there, I gradually began recording and writing my own music. Looking back, I don’t think there’s anything I could have done to speed up the process. Music creation is something that evolves over time; there’s always something new to learn every day. It’s not a skill that can be mastered overnight.
One of the most essential skills I’ve picked up is having a good ear for beats and knowing how to craft catchy hooks. These elements really shape a song and can make a huge difference. The biggest obstacle I faced in learning more was not dedicating as much time to my craft as I should have. I realize now that putting in more time and effort would’ve helped me grow even faster, but I’ve come to understand that growth in music is a continuous journey.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Dez Stackz, and I’ve been on quite a journey in the music industry. I first got into music by learning hands-on through the process, and my first step into creating music came with help from my best friend at the time. From that moment, I became passionate about making music.
In terms of what I provide, my creative works focus on making music that resonates with people on different levels, whether it’s through beats that get you moving or lyrics that tell a story. What sets my work apart is that I don’t rush the process. I believe in taking the time to truly craft songs that leave an impact. My approach to music involves blending catchy hooks with the right beats, creating something memorable for listeners.
As for what I’m most proud of, it’s the fact that I’ve developed my skills over time and have grown into my own sound. The biggest thing I want potential clients, followers, and fans to know is that my music is authentic—it’s a reflection of my journey and everything I’ve learned along the way. Whether it’s for personal enjoyment or for a project, I aim to create sounds that feel fresh and genuine.
The obstacles I’ve faced, like not always investing as much time into my craft as I should have, have taught me the importance of patience and dedication. My brand reflects that; it’s about constantly improving and putting quality over quantity. Whether you’re here to listen, collaborate, or learn more about my music, I want you to know that I’m always striving to deliver something real.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
To best support artists and creatives, society can take a few important steps. First, we need to encourage creativity from a young age. This means investing in arts education in schools and providing kids with the tools and space to explore their artistic interests. When children can express themselves creatively, they grow into adults who value and pursue art.Next, offer financial support, like grants and funding, to help artists cover their costs. Many creatives struggle with expenses, so having access to money or affordable places to work can make a big difference. Communities could set up shared studios or partner with local businesses to create spaces where artists can create and showcase their work.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding part of being an artist is connecting with people through my music. It feels amazing to know that my songs can resonate with someone, whether it helps them feel understood or just brings them joy. When I hear that a piece I created had a positive impact on someone’s life, it makes all the effort worthwhile.
