Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Destiny Blue . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Destiny , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I knew I wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally when I first realized that I had a gift. All throughout my childhood I enjoyed drawing, arts and crafts, and pretty much anything creative. It wasn’t until high school that I realized I was good at it. It’s especially special when I can express myself and tell a story that someone else can relate to. Art has always been the way I expressed myself when verbalizing my emotions was hard.
Destiny , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Destiny Blue. I am a creative and child psychotherapist. It is my passion to align my passion for art and assist others on their healing journey. I currently reside in Charlotte North Carolina where you can find me participating in local art markets, galleries, and other activities in the city. I have recently worked with curators at the VAPA center, The Gallery at the Morning Star, and others. My medium is acrylic paint while I also enjoy utilizing mixed media and unconventional approaches to convey my message. My work is intuitive and reflects my life and interests at the time while highlighting the Black experience. I sell original artwork, prints, stickers, and other collectible items.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My overall goal is to combine therapy and my art practice. Helping others to process, express, and identify their feelings through art. I would like to host therapeutic art workshops and healing events where artists and individuals can build community and have a positive outlet. Additionally, my healing journey and interest in knowledge drive my creative journey.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is when a person sees themselves, their family members, and their community in my work. It is very special to me when an individual resonates with my work and shares a little bit of their story with me.
