Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Deondre Mosley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Deondre , thanks for joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I’ve really learned what I do from watching other people mistakes.
And what i Mean by that Is, I try not to fall in a deep hole of what not to do in my career like saying the wrong things or thinking I know everything and don’t wanna take no advice from people because their not “Doing better than me” I always keep myself humble by all means.
What could I done to speed my learning process? Well i will say By listening to those who tried to tell me what to do far as business wise and take the long way by building myself first then work on building other people after I’m well established.
What skills do I think is the most essential?
I will personally say… Producing is the most essential part of my skill, only because it’s so much that comes with just making a beat and putting an album together.. you have to sit for hours and really communicate with other people on the team like the audio engineers & other producers and artists and record Label’s and marketing team, it’s just the hardest task of my journey but if you know what you want and you know how you want it down, it shouldn’t become a problem to where you wanna quit because it’s not working out in your favor.
What obstacles stood in my way?
I will say Friends and family and myself , because behind the scene .. it comes with drama and things they got going on in their lives, and you have to stop everything in your life to attend to their’s.
But I should of been the one to stop everything when I had plenty of time to shut it down and get back to my vision but I wouldn’t trade them for the world.
Deondre , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got Into the industry at 18 but I started doing music at 14 and the way that came about was: Me and my sister Had just got GarageBand on our mom’s computer, For Christmas, I had got my first akai professional mpk mini piano.
So from there me and my sister would make beats all day till it’s no tomorrow, She was teaching me how to select loops from the software and turn it into a Song…. she will sing, I will produce and little bit you know, I came out as Richie Da Kidd Beatz as my first producer name.
I went from producing to Djaying at small events around the metro area of Atlanta, it was really a great experience for me to be so young and never went to school for music and just to see most of goals coming to life.. it really brings me joy.
What sets me apart from everybody is, I don’t follow the trend.. I don’t do things for other people likening and I don’t sell myself to get to the top .
What you read from this message is what you see and hear from me in real life, I don’t fake my life for social media
What I’m most proud of is… Just me being able to inspire young Adults like myself to believe in God’s Word, I know sometimes we get so distracted and lost in life because we wanna run to the finish line, but we gotta remember we only in our 20s things will get better as we get older and understand life more.
I’m more proud at the fact I’ve been given this opportunity to write about my life to the whole world and possibly change someone’s life by reading my message to them .
I want my reader’s to know that, I’m a music producer/ Songwriter/ Audio engineer/ DJ .
I’m everything in one.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Yessssss, most definitely.
I feel as that I would of been a lot more out there if I knew what I know now.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Of course I can.
I built up my following through posting and supporting other musicians/ sports fans. Anything that has something to do with Entertainment Purposes only, I will target the biggest artist fan base and just really throw myself out there and let them know I’m a producer and I will make “Type Beats” off their favorite artists through a video on instagram and they will love it and share and tag their favorite artist on the post I’ve created. But throughout all of that.. I had already made a name for myself, I’m currently sitting at almost 200k listeners off records I’ve produced.
My advice to the new musicians who just now coming up, Please build up your following, Build up your name first before you go and start coming after the artists you want.
You have to have atleast some type of background so that way you don’t look like you trying to come up off their name only.
Get around or look at youtube tutorials on how to conduct yourself as a business owner or anything you would like to do.
