Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Denashia Lawson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Denashia, thanks for joining us today. Quality control is a challenge almost every entrepreneur has had to focus on when growing – any advice, stories or insight around how to best ensure quality is maintained as your business scales?
As a business owner you want to trust people you hire and safeguard at the same time. There are some skills I’ve learned in Corporate America (Sarbanes–Oxley Act or SOX) that I implement on a smaller with my clients. We take the approach of the owner knowing how the business operates from every aspect especially financially. As you scale the business, you want to make sure systems are in place before the business is too big to manage solo.
Denashia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I defaulted into Accounting actually because my initial major in undergrad was Computer Science but due to my performance in my classes the Accounting department gave me a scholarship. We provide Accounting Services to small to midsize businesses. Within these services we assist owners in creating their financial infrastructure within an accounting system. The difference we provide is a “high touch” approach by building a genuine relationship with the business owner(s). We are most proud of our high degree of integrity and the ability to make complicated matters simple to understand.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Honestly speaking the business has thrived from great clients referring other great business owners.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Taking the leap of faith from Corporate America into full time Entrepreneurship. I desired to be more present & available for my family needs but the demands of my corporate opportunity didn’t allow it. Therefore, I prayed and asked God to lead me and here we are.
