We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Delores Hickson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Delores below.
Delores, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful, I think a person has to define what that word means for them. I used to think success was tied to one particular thing or achievement. However, as I continue as an Entrepreneur and growing a successful business, I’ve redefined what success means to me. It encompasses confidence, being true to self, setting goals and achieving them, and believing in yourself despite what the external appears to be.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Delores! I’ve been a beauty enthusiast since forever. I remember watching my mother and grandmother put on makeup and I would just stare, waiting for the day when I could do the same. My mom finally let me wear eyeshadow when I turned 15 and I never looked back. I fell in love with makeup which eventually led me to becoming an Esthetician! Skincare and makeup go hand in hand and it was perfect for the career I wanted. I’ve wanted my own beauty business since starting Esthetics school in 2010. So when the opportunity presented itself, I took full advantage of it and started Mosaic Beaudee. Mosaic Beaudee takes services like Eyelash Extensions and turns it into treatments that clients feel is necessary. They are able to relax, escape the world, even if it’s for a short time, and leave feeling and looking amazing! I know the power of looking good. When you look good you feel good. Every woman I’ve ever met wants to feel beautiful and Mosaic Beaudee provides that feeling for every woman that comes through our doors. Eyelash Extensions have been around for years but there are still some who know nothing about the service. My goal is to educate people about the Lash Industry and give them a beauty experience they will remember.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Being an Entrepreneur is a whole journey within itself. It takes a lot of mental and emotional stamina that sometimes you’re not prepared for. I’ve had to pivot in business when it comes to social media. For a long time I would be behind the scenes, that’s just how I preferred it. However, we live in different times and technology and social media are great ways to advertise your business and market to a different audience. So I’ve started showing up more on platforms via video, pictures etc to show more of what Mosaic Beaudee is all about. I find ways that feel true to me, shows my personality, and relates to my audience. This approach makes it so much easier to really put myself and business out there for others to see.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I would tell anyone on social media to just have fun with it. You do not have to take it so serious all the time. I’ve learned that just being myself, interacting with my audience, creating content I think is relatable to my industry and what my clients want, has helped me look at social media differently. I have fun with it. I can be myself and it feels so right doing it this way.
