Hi Delisa , thanks for joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
The story behind my name is actually quite simple. My dad gave me the middle name Diamond. When my mom and I were discussing what I wanted to create and the essence of my brand, the word “bling” came to mind as it related to my middle name and what I create. So, we combined my first and middle names, creating DiamondDelisaBling as the name of my business.

Delisa , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Delisa McNeil, and I am 19 years old. I make custom drinkware. When I first started, I was just making custom tea cups for my close friends and family. One day, a family member asked why I wasn’t selling these, so I created an Instagram account and began posting the items I had created. Since then, I have expanded significantly. Now, I create a wide variety of tumblers, teacups, coffee mugs, wine glasses, and more.
What I am most proud of is how far I’ve come, from making basic items to producing products with much higher quality stones, printing, and drinkware itself. Potential customers should know that I really take my time with every aspect of the process. I ensure we get your preferences exactly right while placing the order and during the actual creation of the tumbler or other items.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The main thing that helped me source new clients was starting to attend vendor markets in February 2023. I won a free space at a Family Day Pop-Up in Ajax, and ever since then, I have been going to markets all over the GTA when I am not in school. It’s very helpful for people to see and feel my products in person, which makes it easier for them to decide to order something custom or buy something I have displayed on the table. This, in turn, helps attract more clients through word of mouth.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
There are definitely a few resources I wish I had known about earlier. One major resource is finding a reliable supplier for my products. In the beginning, I was using cups from regular stores, and sometimes they would be out of stock or there wouldn’t be enough when I needed them. Finding a supplier that always has the tumblers or teacups I need for orders or pop-ups has been crucial. It has also helped to have more consistent products for customers, as I now know the quality and materials are reliable.
