We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Deanna Loggins. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Deanna below.
Alright, Deanna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
For the past couple of years I have been investing into multiple Black owned businesses. From beauty, to food, and everything in between. Being able to feed back into my community has brought me so much joy and even inspired me to continue to work on my dreams and discover new dreams along the way. One of the projects I worked on recently was with Thread beauty. Their founders were turned down on shark tank in a very degrading way but they still became successful. Them seeing me as someone worth representing their brand was such an honor.
Working with this brand and others has really inspired me to explore new dreams as well. I am working on some projects of my own in the hair field that I can’t wait to share more about soon!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
With my blog/account I provide those who want to support Black businesses with the information to do so. Depending on where you live and how the algorithm is always changing, you may not be able to find these resources as easily. So, I wanted to be a one stop shop. You want to know about restaurants, I got you. You want to know great hair care products that are actually Black owned, I got you. Even if you are trying to find small ways to incorporate support of Black owned businesses in your day to day life like buying a toothbrush, you can find that on my page as well.
Also with my reviews I try to be as honest as possible in a constructive way. Sometimes businesses make mistakes, but that’s just called growing pains. If the product is great I will let anyone who will listen know.
I have also been getting more into hair tutorials. Hair is something I’ve been passionate about since high school. Natural hair isn’t always easy to do so if I can give advice or show an easier way to do a style you have always wanted to do I want to help. Everyone deserves to feel their hair is beautiful.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I think the best way to build your community on social media is to be consistent and interact with your community. If people would ask me about wine suggestions or specific hair tutorials that’s the type of content I would provide. Also finding other creatives who are in your same niche and trying to build community with them.
The most important this is taking a step back and asking yourself if I was a complete stranger looking at this content would I be impressed or follow this person? If the answer is no, go back and improve the content. It’s time consuming but it makes a difference.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Helping others. So often we forget to reach back and help those around us. We say it’s easier to buy from bigger established brands, but every big business was once a small business that a lot of people gave a chance. I just love my community (the Black community) and I want to pour into it like it has poured into me to make me the woman I am today. That “thank you so much for featuring us” or “thank you for the recommendation” is all I’ve ever hoped for. Everything else has just been extra.
