We were lucky to catch up with Daya Singh recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Daya thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My mission is to guide people toward healing and balance by helping them reconnect with their mind, body, and creative expression. It’s about empowering people to feel whole again, to find their strength and safety within, using tools like somatic practices, neurosensory exercises, music, and the wisdom I’ve gained from working with animals.
This mission is personal to me because it’s also rooted in my own journey. Music has always been my constant companion, a therapeutic tool that helped me process emotions and rediscover the essence of who I am. My connection with nature and animals, especially my horses and dog, has taught me lessons about presence, trust, and the natural rhythms of life.
As an Equine Osteopath, Equicoach, Canine Myofascial Release Therapist, Trauma Release Coach, and Singer-Songwriter, I’ve seen how deeply the mind and body are connected. I’ve witnessed how stress, trauma, and tension manifest physically and emotionally, and how deep healing can happen when we work at a somatic and autonomic nervous system level. This understanding has shaped the way I approach my work, blending science, creativity, and the human soul into a holistic path for wellness.
What makes this mission meaningful to me is how it allows me to bridge the gap between art, healing, and human connection. I know how disconnected people can feel, whether because of trauma, stress, or the fast pace of life. And I see how impactful it can be to reconnect with yourself, with your own body, which then allows you to better connect with others too.
Music has shown me how I can access certain emotions, and how being connected to my body and in a regulated nervous system state, enhances my creativity and supports a sense of belonging. My work with animals has also shown me the power of nonverbal connection. It has taught me how to be a good leader and how to show up authentically. And my love for deep conversations has taught me that true healing and growth often happens in relationships, whether that’s with yourself, others, or the world around you.
This mission aligns with everything I value: growth, authenticity, creativity, and connection. It’s meaningful because it’s my story. It reflects how I’ve grown from my own challenges and how I want to help others do the same. I believe that healing, personal growth, and self-awareness are not just individual pursuits; they ripple outward, creating a stronger, compassionate and more connected world. I also believe that creating a better world begins within, by doing the inner work and by addressing the unresolved wounds that shape our behaviors, so we can show up as fully embodied and authentic individuals. That’s what inspires and drives me every day.

Daya, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Daya, and my life’s work is centered around connection, healing, and empowerment, whether it’s through working with animals, guiding individuals on their healing and creative journeys, or creating meaningful conversations about creativity and mental health. I blend my passions for somatic practices, neuroscience, music, and the wisdom of nature into a holistic approach that helps people and animals thrive.
My journey and how I got here
My path to this work has been a nonlinear one, shaped by my own experiences. I’ve always felt a deep connection to animals and the natural world, which led me to pursue work as an Equine Osteopath, Equicoach and Canine Myofascial Release Therapist. And I’ve always been interested in psychology and human behavior.
Music is something that has always been in my life. I’ve used it for self-expression and it is a way for me to process life’s challenges. It was through my love for music that I began to explore the connection between creativity, the body, and nervous system regulation. Over time, I combined these passions with my two colleagues, and together we founded Somatic Songwriters, a unique community that blends somatic healing, nervous system wellness and creativity.
What I offer
My work spans several areas:
• For Individuals: I offer somatic therapy and trauma release coaching to help people regulate their nervous systems, let go of what’s holding them back, and reconnect with their body and authentic selves.
• For Animals: I provide osteopathy for horses and dogs, supporting their physical and emotional well-being.
• For Creatives: Through the Somatic Songwriters community, I co-create a space for artists to explore the intersection of mental health, creativity, and the nervous system, offering tools to navigate the challenges of the music industry while staying true to their art.
• For Communities: I lead workshops and courses on nervous system regulation, stress management, and creating balance, helping individuals cultivate deeper connections with themselves and others.
What problems I solve
At its core, my work is about helping people and animals move out of states of stress, discomfort, disconnection, or imbalance and into states of alignment.
For individuals, this might mean releasing stored survival stress, letting go of limiting beliefs,, emotional tension, building resilience, or rediscovering their creativity.
For animals, it’s about relieving physical discomfort which can be connected to behavioral problems, rehabilitation and restoring ease of movement.
What sets me apart
What makes my work unique is the way it integrates different disciplines, somatic practices, science, animal care & therapy, and creative expression, into a holistic approach. I see all of this, not as separate processes, but as interconnected and ever-evolving.
My ability to blend hands-on techniques, nervous system insights, and creative tools allows me to support clients in ways that go beyond the surface, creating meaningful and lasting change.
What I’m most proud of
I’m proud of the trust I’ve built with my clients, whether human or animal, and the impact that trust has on their lives. Seeing someone leave a session feeling lighter, an animal move with ease, or an artist rekindle their spark reminds me why I do this work. I’m proud of how I’ve been able to put myself out there, helping people in a way that feels true to who I am.
My full name, Daya Rani, literally means ‘Queen of Compassion,’ and I feel I’m at a stage in my life where I’m truly embodying this meaning by giving back to others.
And I’m also proud of the community we’re building with Somatic Songwriters, a project that combines my passions for music, healing and connection in a way that feels both personal and universal.
What I want you to know
The work I do is not just about solving problems or quick fixes; it’s about creating possibilities and education. Whether you’re seeking balance, growth, or creative expression, my mission is to guide, support, and empower you to step into your most authentic and fulfilled self, creating a sense of safety and ease within your body.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me has been through my website, authentic connections and word-of-mouth recommendations. Many of my clients come from people who have experienced my work firsthand, whether through a trauma release therapy session, a workshop or retreat.
Social media has also been a good platform for connecting with like-minded individuals. By sharing insights about somatic practices, creativity, and nervous system wellness, I’ve been able to reach people who resonate with my approach and feel inspired to reach out. Collaborations with colleagues in related fields and hosting events have further expanded my network.
The most meaningful connections happen when my work speaks directly to someone’s journey, and they feel a sense of trust and alignment with what I offer. It’s about creating a space where people feel seen and supported, which naturally draws in the right clients.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn is the belief that working non-stop is the only way to achieve success. For a long time, I equated hard work with worthiness and believed that sacrificing rest and balance was just part of the process. I thought if I wasn’t constantly grinding, I was falling behind. Because that’s what I’ve always heard people say.
But over time, I learned that this mindset is not only unsustainable but also counterproductive.
Nervous system work helped me expand my capacity to balance everything I do, work, self-care, my social and personal life. It taught me the importance of regulating my body and mind, so I could approach my work with clarity and energy rather than overwhelm.
I also began surrounding myself with people who share similar values: driven, growth-oriented individuals who understand the importance of balance and self-awareness.
Success doesn’t come from simply doing more; it comes from doing the right things with focus and intention.
It’s not about working every hour of the day, it’s about working smart and showing up at your best. I’ve learned the importance of taking care of myself first, so I can give more to my work and the people I serve.
What I’ve also learned is that balance doesn’t mean everything is equal all the time. Sometimes, work does need to take priority, and that’s okay, as long as it’s not at the expense of your well-being. Other times, self-care or relationships come first. The key is being intentional and recognizing that life is dynamic. By prioritizing my nervous system health, I’ve found the capacity to move through these shifts without guilt or burnout.
So, the lesson I unlearned is that success isn’t about how much you do, it’s about how aligned, intentional, focused and resilient you are. And finding that balance has made all the difference in both my work and personal life.
