We were lucky to catch up with David Williams recently and have shared our conversation below.
David, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How do you feel about asking friends and family to support your business? What’s appropriate, what’s not? Where do you draw the line?
We feel great asking our family and friends for support, why because they’re our biggest cheerleaders who want to see us succeed so it’s a great feeling to have them supporting us , I draw the line by not asking too much even though our family and friends always give more than enough and that we are thankful for, we needed our business to open and the hood in the restaurant needed fixing to pass inspection my friend took time out of his busy schedule to get it done without charging anything this type of sacrifice don’t come easy. Our son also gives his best daily here with us from the beginning till now , we also have friends that fly here on their own dime just to give support , my brother came as well it has all been great and we love and appreciate all of them for this

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got started in this business through grandfather he was the one who thought me how to cook he was also a executive Chef for a hotel in my hometown back in Jamaica, he had to retire cause his eyes where affected by glaucoma, I use to live with my grandparents so he wasn’t seeing well this how he started teaching me his lessons where valuable and I fell in love with the kitchen from the age of 14 , my restaurant offers amazing Jamaican cuisine that’s is authentic and delicious to the pallets We are convincingly located in demmick plaza where the old Angelo’s pizza use to be we bring authentic Jamaican food to this area so customers don’t have to drive all way cross town , what set us apart we offer Great innovating cooking that. Still represents jamaica we aren’t your typical Jamaican restaurant with just the regular stuff but we offer dimension that’s still Jamaican

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Yes Nicole my wife and I started this business from our house we did this for 2 years till we decided to open this brick and mortar ,Nicole is a registered nurse that works nights she would come home in the morning sleep till 12 noon then get up do the deliveries, she is the back bone of our business, she became apart of my vision and made now it’s our vision she is my biggest supporter with a big heart and believe in what we do
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
