We were lucky to catch up with David Oman recently and have shared our conversation below.
David, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I’ve always been into music, I started collecting vinyl and saw there was a big community on instagram who also collected vinyl. I thought of an idea to interview people to talk about collecting vinyl. Then that lead to interviewing singers, bands and influencers. It all just took of from there.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into interviewing people from starting a blog and reaching out to people to do interviews. It started with interviewing people from the vinyl community on instagram. Then I started interviewing singers, bands, DJ’s and influencers.
One of the bands The New Serpents were looking for a manager and they asked me to be their manager. I’m new to it, but I’ve enjoyed it. I work with the band, help them get interviews, podcasts and work on their social media. The got to release a record with East London Recordings and they asked me to interview their other artists for them. It’s been a pretty cool journey so far.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes my mission is to continue doing my interviews with different artists/creatives and help shine a light on them as theirs a lot of independent musicians out there who deserve to be seen and heard. I’ve recently started working on a project called Independent Music Pit to help do that.
I also want to keep creating content, grow the brands I’m working on and make it all my main job and focus.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
It’s really rewarding to see the things I’m working on grow, get more likes and views. It’s been really rewarding to see the band I manage continue to gain more followers and fans too.
