Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to David Habib. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
David, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
We are devoted to making better foods and bringing people together. Like our Mamas, we strive to touch hearts and are passionate about building communities through a delicious offering of fun and innovative products that make everyone feel right at home.
In a world where food’s validity is based on the latest fad, we strive to bring everyone back to their roots through healthy and delicious foods. Our products stem from a passion and tenderness that was cultivated in our own Mama’s kitchens. For us, those memories lasted long after the food was gone, and we want to pass that along to you.
David, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
David Habib was inspired by his mother’s ability to unite people of all cultures and backgrounds around the table through healthy and delicious food. In 2017, he left his
job as a Deloitte Consultant to start Yo Mama’s Foods, crafting healthy pasta sauces,
salad dressings and condiments. All items are crafted with no preservatives, no fillers,
and no gums. They are Keto and Paleo Certified by the Paleo Foundation and are a
delicious alternative to competitive sauces loaded with sugar and sodium.
Today, Yo Mama’s Foods can be found in more than 15,000 retail stores in the USA,
including Whole Foods, Target, Walmart, Giant and Amazon. The brand is also exported
to 7 countries. Yo Mama’s Foods is currently ranked as Amazon’s #1 best selling brand of
Pasta Sauce, Pizza Sauce, and Ketchup and has been featured in numerous national press
articles; including Forbes, Clean Plates, Good Housekeeping, Southern Living, Fox, ABC,
and NBC.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Getting into Whole Foods took persistence, time, and courage.
I started on calling on the Florida region for over 6 months and didn’t have success. From there, I started with the Southeast. Numerous samples were sent, I drove down to the office, and no progress was made. 8 months of calls, emails, and samples later, I took a risk and reached out to the National Buyer who happened to be reviewing the category. She gave us a meeting and after 2 years of work, we were launched as a national brand at Whole Foods.
