Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to David Alexandre . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, David thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
Although I have been well acquainted with various forms of divination for many years. It was only in the last 2o or so years that I considered the idea of practicing as a professional. I had been invited in the early 2000’s to attend an anniversary party for a local publication. I was already working on a costume to wear as a fortune teller at a school fundraiser. I remember looking at the costume and then seeing the invitation to the other event. Something in my mind clicked and I thought: “Why not?!” I decided to go to the event wearing the costume and chance that people would ask about my attire and then practice my public reading skills in a crowd of virtual strangers.
The evening went very well and my presence stirred the interest of the other guests in my readings. That night, I was convinced that I would have great fun and possibly find some success as a professional reader.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
The most notable turn in my professional career was when my lifelong friend and business associate, Valentina Burton, asked me out to dinner. Over our creme brulee dessert, she proposed that I join her as one of the house readers at Hotel Zaza in Uptown Dallas. I was a bit skeptical about it, but my curiosity won out and after 5 years, Valentina decided to concentrate on her private practice. I was on my own at the Hotel until March of 2020 when the pandemic changed everyone’s life. I have since been focusing on my private clients, whom I adore and love to share insight and give support to in my practice.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
As I have been of the belief that my profession chose me. I don’t know that I would ever consider that I would have gone a different way in my professional life.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I came to the understanding that what my purpose as a reader was never to try and fix or discern what my client was looking for. My only job was to light the path they have chosen and help them make a more informed decision.
