We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dave Shecter. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dave below.
Dave, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I wish i had started when i was very young but unfortunately i wasnt serious about anything until my 30s and 40s. Its to bad because i know i could have become something if i had applied myself

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
When i was a teenager i joined a few different modeling and talent agencies and did a few fashion shows. I also did a show for Joico as a hair model I didnt take things seriously though at that age. It wasnt until 2012 or so that i really took a look at the Acting industry and decided to give it a shot. Since then ive come along ways but its not easy. First of all I work a real job and average 50 to 60 hours a week. Somehow im able to squeeze in auditions and acting, songwriting, recording and travel. Ive got over 80 credits on my IMDB page and worked with numerous well known actors. ive written and recorded over a dozen songs and have several music videos for those songs. Ive built studio rooms in my backyard for movie scenes and am constantly buying props for our newly founded production company Day/Night Pictures. I am really proud of what i have accomplished so far and im no where near where i want to be. I’m the guy who gets things done because i love doing it. My goal is to make a living at it so i dont have to have a real job because that really takes up alot of valuable time that i could be devoting to the arts.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me it would be watching myself grow as an actor. I had no dreams of being anything growing up let alone an actor. So having low self esteem i didnt know if i could get up in front of people and talk or play guitar and act. When i started acting, you could tell i was nervous and as i did more and more i could feel myself letting go and getting more comfortable in front of cameras and people. Now i love it and cant get enough but i will never stop trying to better myself as an actor. When im on set i learn so much from seasoned actors just by watching and taking notes which is why i like to stay behind the scenes when im not in a scene and watch others act. I take a lot of mental notes by observing.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience by doing as much as i possibly can and talking to people, networking. Im sure youve heard that its who you know and that is true. Ive done my share of jobs that paid minimal or nothing just so i could learn the trade and talk to people. Thats something you have to do sometimes. Ive done commercials and tv shows that paid good but ive also done alot of independent shows and films that have very little budget but thats how i learn and meet people and i have no problem with that. Im building my resume and getting my name out there.
