Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dashanique Mathews. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dashanique, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
One summer afternoon the sun was blazing, and the kids were restless, looking for something fun to do. As I watched them, an idea began to take shape in my mind. I remembered the joy of having a snow cone as a child, the vibrant colors, the sweet, icy treat that made the heat bearable.
I thought, “Why not bring that joy to our community and, at the same time, create something meaningful for my children?” I wanted to provide them with more than just a summer activity; I wanted to give them a taste of entrepreneurship, a sense of responsibility, and a long-term asset they could cherish and grow.
That evening, I gathered the family around the dinner table and shared my idea. The kids’ eyes lit up with excitement as I explained how we could start our own snow cone business. We brainstormed flavors, discussed the best locations to set up our stand, and even came up with a catchy name.
Over the next few weeks, we worked together to bring our vision to life. We researched the best equipment, experimented with different syrups, and designed a colorful, inviting stand. The kids were involved in every step, learning about budgeting, marketing, and customer service. It was a hands-on lesson in entrepreneurship that no classroom could provide.
As the summer progressed, our snow cone stand became a local favorite. The kids took pride in their work, and I saw them grow more confident and responsible. They learned the value of hard work, the importance of customer satisfaction, and the joy of earning their own money.
But the best part was the bond we formed as a family. Working together on this project brought us closer and created memories that would last a lifetime. And as the summer came to an end, I knew we had built something special – not just a business, but a legacy that my children could carry forward.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
