We recently connected with Danielle Cortez and have shared our conversation below.
Danielle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Quality control is a challenge almost every entrepreneur has had to focus on when growing – any advice, stories or insight around how to best ensure quality is maintained as your business scales?
Especially this year, my company has grown so much! The agency is still a small team and this year alone our workload has tripled! We are very grateful for this, but we want to make sure that all of our clients are taken care of and the quality of work is still there and they are always reminded as to why they hired our agency. We are slowly growing and adding to our agency. It is a good feeling to have the cash flow to add other freelancers to our team.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Well, first off, Hello, I am Dani. I am a girl who wears many hats. Some days I am a marketer, photographer, copywriter, or content creator…just to name a few. I started my entrepreneur lifestyle about 6 years ago. I did the typical “how to make money from home” Google search and after putting my skills together I landed on Digital Marketing. I used to be very good at MySpace and I thought I could relearn some skills and apply them to modern day marketing. I was lucky when I quit my job because Digital Empire (my company) was already created by my business partner. He brought me on as a freelance worker and eventually made my way up to partner. My business partner and I balance each other very well. I am great at forming relationships and communicating with our clients, while he is great at the tech and design aspect of the business. When it comes to discipline, I know there is so much room for growth there. I lack patience and always want to reach the finish line immediately without all the “middle fluff.”
I like to say Digital Empire is your one stop shop for all your digital marketing needs. We can help create your brand from the ground up, design your website, SEO, media buying, photography, videography, social media management, influencer management, and PR.
I run two brands simultaneously, Digital Empire and well as my own Savii Dee. My creative side is constantly flowing whether it’s for myself or my clients. I think what sets me a part from other creators or agencies is my communication skills. I know how to talk to a wide variety of individuals with different backgrounds. I always try to relate to people and make them feel heard.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
This is actually a great story! My full name is Danielle Cortez and my business partner’s name is Mike Cortez. No relation to each other (that we know of). We have known each other since I was 4 years old. We went to the same private school together, same high school, and even college. We never spoke to each other until we became part of the same friend group through a mutual friend. Digital Empire was already his and be brought me on as a freelancer and gave me a chance to perfect my skills. 3 years later he made my co-owner of the business and we have grown so much together.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I used my account as a “test dummy” you could say. I wanted people to know that I knew what it takes to have a successful account. So I started to pay attention to all the trends and algorithms and grew my account. My IG is my modern day resume. If I am unable to grow my own account, how would my clients know that they could trust me to grow theirs?
