Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Daniel Smith. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Daniel, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think Corporate America gets wrong in your industry?

Corporate America often does not address the importance of the contaminants that affect our indoor air quality. For instance, a new home is built and all the building materials are place in this seal tight home. The owners move in and in months, sometimes years they find themselves dealing with allergy type symptoms. Why, because this home does not allow for fresh air to come in, leaving all the contaminants for the new homeowners to breath in and the results are allergy type symptoms, medications, etc.

There are many more cases similar to this that is overlooked in homes.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My name is Daniel and I grew up on a dairy farm that has been managed by my family since the 60’s. Over the years, Ive encounter numerous obstacles that has shaped my life into what it is today from a burning of my home when I was five to being racially profiled while at work. These life experiences has made me want to treat people by being fair and being honest.

In 2005, my father introduced me into the indoor air quality industry in which selling air purifiers to assist in the improving of indoor air quality, from pollen, dust, mold, viruses and bacteria. I was fascinated with the technology and decided to give it a try. In 2009, I began to introduce these air purifiers to mold remediation companies and come to find out, they needed mold inspectors and tester. So this is where SES began its journey in being the leader in mold inspections.

Over the years, we noticed that our client’s needed more than just mold testing, they needed solutions. So we began to offer services that met those criteria such as HVAC Duct and Dryer Vent Cleaning, serving as an Expert Witness for Mold related cases.

Most of our client’s that has contacted us have been overwhelmed by non professionals with good intentions. Our sole purpose is to provide honest assessments as it relates to their indoor air quality issues and this is what sets us apart from others.

What we are most grateful for is the 16 years in business. The journey has been a teachable one and we are planning for the next chapter as becoming a household name. One of our future goal is for the option of every real estate transaction to have indoor air quality assessments and mold testing services performed.

We strongly believe that if quality of indoor air can improve, it will have a positive and lasting impact on our overall health.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

I am a person who believes in the power of the speaking what you want out of life, however I didn’t know that the work that would come along with it when I told my parents that I will own my own business one day.

When I was 2o, I spent some time in jail, 10 months. While in jail, I started writing poetry and shortly after being released, my first company was formed, Dreams Come True Publishing. I wrote my first poetry book that sold over 300 copies.

During this time, I worked as a mechanic at an auto repair shop in my hometown of Williamsburg, Va, until I moved to Charlotte, NC in 2006.

Society doesn’t offer a lot of opportunity for people that have been incarcerated, so with that, God saw fit for me to start my own. I applied for many of job and because of a record, I was not hired. I was not defeated in all this, although upset at times, however I kept pushing to be the best version of myself and still 27 years later I still have a few chapters to go, lol.

My journey story includes perseverance as well as resilience, because for me it took both to stay focus, to wake up each day and just try. Believing in myself and not what others said or thought is why I am where I am and will continue to make strides in accomplishing my dreams.

The knowledge and experience that I have as well as me being honest has built my reputation within my market.
