Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Danger Aurora. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Danger , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I have always been creative and curious about the potential of becoming an entertainer full time. I started performing at the early age of 5. It’s just first nature. I really only made the concrete decision to give this a real go about 2 years ago. Enough was enough. I despised my retail job as a supervisor at the time so, I took a chance on myself. One day, I decided to never clock back in from break. I quit my 9-5 and headed to the studio immediately! Making that conscious choice totally shifted my work, my attitude, and my career! Performing is apart of my purpose. My name “ Danger Aurora “ means “ Danger the dawn. Danger the light “. I’m here to showcase what it’s like to bring light to others lives.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Since age five, I’ve had a passion for the arts. I’ve studied a wide variety of genres of dance such as ballet, tap, hip hop, jazz,African, pointe, and much more. Since graduating from Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts, I’ve participated in local music videos by many local musicians such as Tate Kobang , Sorcez Dieniro , Kim Poole ( just to name a few) , and I’m also known as a former back up dancer for the local artist Shadina Bettis. I had the pleasure of choreographing for the Los Angeles artist Atia Burgos and in 2011-12 auditioned for “ SYTYCD “ season 11. In college, I studied at the world renowned “ Broadway Dance Center “ for 2 years in NYC while attending CCBC Essex in MD. I’ve always been musically inclined. I never chose music. Music chose me! It just moves through me. I started playing the piano at the age of 8 and did covers of various songs by Alicia Keys as well as Jazmine Sullivan. Throughout my early years , I continued to develop as an artist and by age 12 became a member of the Baltimore County Vocal Honors ensemble! Since then, my passion has grown and my love for hip hop speaks for itself through my work. I have a vision. And if there’s 1 thing I’m going to do, I’m going to get it regardless.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
For a long time I was really concerned about finding my artistic voice and society’s standards. I didn’t know what I wanted to express, or how, or what. When I brought my concerns to one of my mentors, they reassured me that your voice develops with time and life experiences. There is nothing you can do but live your life and keep painting your perfect picture. That really took the pressure off. Stop overthinking. Be fearless, if you will. A great reminder that everything you do ultimately influences your work in some way, subtle or not. What you think is ultimately what you’ll manifest.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I want to ultimately make a difference within my community. Summer 2022 , I held the first ever WATER TRILL FEST. It’s apart of my soul’s mission to bridge the gap between the DMV. Initially, I started the festival to raise mental health awareness within the arts and entertainment industry. Quickly, I realized that my mission was deeper. Community is true currency.
