We recently connected with Dalesharee Lee and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dalesharee, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
On December 13, 2024, I released my first EP called “Soft Spot.” This project was special and something I hold near to my heart because most of it is based on my own relationship with my now husband. I named the EP “Soft Spot” because I wanted to find another word or description of love. When you truly love someone or have this internal feeling for them, it’s like having a soft spot for them that might not go away despite all the trials and tribulations you’ve been through with that person. Good or bad. The love will always be there. Not in a toxic way, but when you have someone who will go through the rough times with you, you wouldn’t want to go through those hard times with anyone else.
With this project, I wrote a lot about making up and working it out. Admitting my wrongs in a relationship. Most women wouldn’t hold themselves accountable when it comes to arguments or disagreements, but I wanted to share my point of view. Sometimes it’s annoying when my man is right lol. That’s how my single “Salty” came about. I wrote about real experiences that hit home for me and this allowed me to show a more vulnerable side of myself.
Although this was my first project, I’m so proud of myself as an independent artist. I had all creative control from the beat selection to the artwork which made the process that much more enjoyable. Having a set recording studio to go to also made the creative experience memorable. I definitely want to thank all the engineers and producers who contributed to the “Soft Spot” EP as well. If it wasn’t for them, the project wouldn’t be in the world today. Shoutout to The Gas Station Studios for their amazing work and for pushing me to grow in my artistry. This is why this project is so meaningful to me.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Daleshareé and I’m originally from Los Angeles, CA. I started singing in my church’s kids choir when I was 4 years old. I feel I’ve gained most of my vocal abilities from my mom who was a Soprano in the adult choir at our church. It’s a trip because I’m literally an alto lol. Music has always been a huge part of my life. Throughout school, I joined choir and would participate in talent shows where I’d sing and dance. In high school, the school’s administration would ask me to sing the National Anthem for games and assemblies. My mom would take me to different talent agencies and auditions growing up as well, so that gave me the drive to want to pursue music and become an artist.
When YouTube came about, I built a small studio setup in my bedroom, uploading song covers to my YouTube channel until I was able to record in an actual studio. Some of the covers, I posted to my personal SoundCloud page. Then, I eventually started going to open mic nights in the Las Vegas music scene performing them live. On September 12, 2022, I signed an independent record deal with Young Pharaohz Recordz. I did local shows, released a few singles, a six-track EP, and a music video during this time. I was even nominated for a Las Vegas Black Music Award for best new artist in 2024. I’m so proud of what I’ve accomplished so far, but I couldn’t have done it without my Young Pharaohz family. I’m not done yet, but when the time permits; I’d love to release more music.
Although I’ve tried my best to stay consistent, life became a bit hectic and unfortunately I had to take a step back from music. In August of 2025, I decided to go back to school for cosmetology. I wanted to develop my skills in a field where I could give back to society. Something more rewarding, where I could truly make a difference in someone’s life. We all go through difficult times and it can take its toll. You might even lose yourself for a little bit, but you never know what a fresh haircut, style, or a relaxing self care service could do for someone. I want my clients to not only have a wonderful guest experience, but to also leave feeling great. Being a light to someone else, sharing informative tips about maintaining the integrity of their hair, etc. I feel that true education and having genuine compassion for people is what will set me apart from others as a newcomer in this industry.
Music will always be my passion and it’ll always be there, but I wanted a change and a chance to give back in another way. I love beauty and a great way to do so is to provide a service, so I thought about cosmetology school. I figured this would still align with the aspect of entertainment. I’ve always wanted to work behind the scenes whether it be hair, makeup, nails, photography or anything in production. I always wanted to be a helping hand to someone and with me going to cosmetology school, it’s gearing me up for a brighter career to be able to do so.
In this new career path, I’m working on a beauty and cosmetic brand while currently in school which will include all things makeup, hair, and skincare. My brand is called MC Beauty & Cosmetics by Monét Carter. You can follow me & my cosmetology journey @mcbeautycos_. I know I’ll get back to the music, but I have to take care of what’s important at this time. It’s okay to pivot as long you don’t give up. I look forward to building my business & graduating at the end on 2026. My goal is to promote healthy hair, self love, & positivity to my future clients.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was worrying about what others were doing & worrying about what others thought of me. I was told too many times that I’d never be able to put out a project or an EP. I was so concerned about the fact that another artist had something new dropping & wondering when my turn would come. Not knowing what that artist might’ve been through to get there etc. I was in a rush because I was so focused on what others thought of me. The moment I stopped thinking about & worrying about what other people thought, I started focusing on myself. That’s when I started to grow. Things started to run smoothly & fall into place. I completed my EP “Soft Spot” & it’s available right now on all streaming platforms. Imagine if I would’ve listened to the naysayers.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I feel the most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is being able to freely express yourself the way you want to without any rules or restrictions. Whatever you decide to create, it becomes your art and no one can tell you any different. I feel you don’t need validation from anyone for your creativity. If someone doesn’t like what you create, that’s okay. It’s merely an opinion & not a fact.
