Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dajunay Webster. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dajunay, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Alright, let me take you on this journey from the very beginning. Picture this: I was sitting in my tiny apartment, cluttered with stacks of paper, half-finished projects, and a wall decorated with dreams and goals I’d scribbled down. It wasn’t just any day; it was one of those gray, rainy afternoons when everything feels a little heavier, and you can’t shake the uncertainty about your future. I’d spent years working hard in various jobs, striving to climb a corporate ladder that felt more like a slippery slide. I often found myself daydreaming about creating something meaningful—something that could help others find their footing in a world that seemed to push them down.
Then came that moment of clarity. I started recalling my conversations with friends—especially those brave, creative women who came from similar backgrounds as mine. Women with incredible talent but often lacking self-confidence because of the circumstances we faced. They expressed feeling lost and unsupported in an industry that could be so cutthroat and isolating. As I listened to these stories, a spark lit up in me, and I thought, “What if I could create a space where these women could shine?”
That’s how the idea for Dauntless The Empire was born. I realized I wasn’t just starting an event coordinating business; I was building a community—a family—of women who would lift each other up. I knew it was worthwhile not just because the idea resonated with me but because it filled a significant gap in our creative world. Many people see the path to success as a solo venture, where you scramble to outdo each other. But I wanted to challenge that notion and showcase a more collaborative spirit. I envisioned vibrant gatherings showcasing local talent, workshops to hone skills, and mentorship opportunities, all rooted in a sense of belonging.
The excitement bubbled inside me every time I thought about it. I pondered the concept of family further—it was everything I valued. The support, the encouragement, the shared joy in seeing someone succeed—it felt revolutionary. Sure, I had been met with skepticism about my vision. “You’re going to have a hard time if you think that’s how the world works,” some said. But within me burned a fierce belief that many women longed for this kind of environment, where they could share their creativity fearlessly without holding back.
Every time I imagined the emotions at our events—the laughter, the tears of joy, the raw energy in the room—I felt charged. This idea wasn’t just a business; it was a movement. It was about cultivating self-confidence, about being dauntless in pursuing dreams despite the odds stacked against us. I thought of the rose growing through concrete—a beautiful metaphor for resilience, determination, and the belief that we can flourish even in tough environments.
As I began mapping out the logistics, planning events, and reaching out to potential collaborators, I felt an electric pulse of possibility. I recognized that the world needed a space where creative women could gather, celebrate their uniqueness, and feel genuinely supported. I learned early on that success doesn’t mean leaving people behind; it’s about creating a foundation where we can all thrive together.
And so, Dauntless The Empire came to life—a sanctuary where we take care of each other, grow together, and redefine what it means to succeed. From that cluttered apartment to events filled with laughter and inspiration, every step has reaffirmed that this was not just a worthy endeavor; it was exactly what we needed. Together, we’re proving that when we embrace our strengths and uplift each other, we truly can rise from the concrete.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
For lack of better words: Dauntless The Empire is an event curation/ community event business. I Plan on making Dauntless a non profit so that community members and creatives can enjoy their talents in a safe space.
The only way to start a business in my opinion: 1) Have an Idea & 2) Have the confidence to execute it. Even if you don’t know where to start, a closed mouth doesn’t get fed.
This is how Dauntless was born. I had no clue where to start, but the one thing I am most proud of is STARTING. A lot of times people don’t want to start the business until “The time is right”, but they don’t realize the time is now. The longer you wait to start your dream, the less confidence you will have.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Believe it or not, my main source of new clients is word of mouth. Social media can be so popularity based that it drowns out programs like Dauntless. When I go around to recreation centers and schools to talk, it’s because the community sees the benefit of programs like Dauntless The Empire will help not only business owners who are already established, but it can also be an escape for all creative people, a refuge for youth and a safe space for the community to enjoy FUN again.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I started off as a model. My first show I ever walked in was the Philly Storm of Fashion. There was one particular woman present that I knew from Highschool and she had been modeling for years, since grade school. I had no idea she would be there, but when she saw me she helped me learn more about modeling, how to get into shows and even took me to a show to Network as well as casting calls to gain exposure. Her name is Allure Burns, Face of Ebin NY.
I modeled for about 3/4 years before I started Dauntless as an Uocycle Designer and created many successful relationship with designers and the photographers that I worked with. One thing Allure taught me was that there are people on the industry that have the same family mindset that I do: willingness to help others succeed no matter where you are in your career. So that is what helped me build my reputation: always setting my boundaries and spreading the support and love because that is what I want to attract.
