We recently connected with Daisy Campos and have shared our conversation below.
Daisy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
In 2020, after the pandemic hit, I decided to go all into investing in my photography. I bought courses and followed through with practice on the back end work as well as hands on with shoots & behind the scenes video showing my work. I ended up getting back to back bookings within a month of putting in the work based on what I learned from the courses I took. That same year, I started taking in shoots out of my garage that we turned into my photography studio. After that opened up & I had practice shooting in it. My clients started coming in!
Daisy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started getting into photography in 2016 after watching my brother take pictures of me and get excited. I didnt have a job for a bit in April 2016 so I started looking into hobbies I can do. I came across photography & since I saw my brother get excited taking pictures & me motivating him to start his page on social media,I wanted to give it a try too. I started off with my galaxy s7 I believe & within 3 weeks, i was gifted my first digital camera, I believe it was a Canon Rebel. From then on, I got serious with practicing on friends and even reconnecting with old friends to practice. I officially started doing shoots June 1st, 2016… 10 years ago! I have helped clients with their confidence. The way they enter the studio is different from when they leave! It makes me tear up just watching the transformation.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Once Tiktok became more known in 2020… I decided to give it a try in 2021 with just posting short videos of my shoots. Since it was still new, I got a lot of eyes & inquiries from each video I posted. Prior to tiktok, it was just promoting my work with pictures ok my story when i had a shoot of the scenery etc. Most of my clients come from Tiktok now. Many of them travel to me from all over: Los Angeles, El Centro, AZ, Las Vegas, San Francisco & so on.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Definitely has been reviews. Showing my process & being on top of communication with potential clients. Also, most people who work with me post on their story of how much fun they had and tag me.
