We were lucky to catch up with Curtrice R. Goddard recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Curtrice R., thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
My Journey: Transforming Inherited Trauma into Empowerment and the Creation of my Business.
As a Black woman from Detroit, I’ve experienced firsthand the harsh realities of systemic racism and inherited generational trauma. Growing up, I was surrounded by negative narratives and limited expectations that threatened to define my identity and future.
Witnessing the cyclical nature of racism and separation consciousness in our society, I felt a deep frustration. Despite decades of social and racial justice efforts, the same patterns of harm continued to infect our communities.
My turning point came through a profound journey of personal healing and spiritual growth. Through consciousness studies, physical wellness practices, and emotional healing work, I discovered the power to radically liberate myself from inherited narratives and circumstances.
This transformative experience revealed a crucial insight: while real-world challenges and barriers exist, we possess the innate power to influence, impact, and transform our lives, communities, and the world at large. Our perspective on ourselves and the world significantly shapes our outcomes.
I’ve come to believe that embarking on a journey of self-realization and expanded consciousness is the key to creating meaningful change. At its core, this work reduces personal suffering and increases joy, even in the face of injustice. More profoundly, it equips individuals to become trailblazers and catalysts for transformation—whether through policy changes, legal reforms, community initiatives, or innovative programs.
This approach to personal and collective liberation is not just another strategy—it’s a game changer in the pursuit of true racial justice and social harmony.
The racial tensions that erupted in 2020 marked a pivotal moment in our collective consciousness. As the world grappled with long-standing injustices brought to the forefront, I found myself at a crossroads of personal revelation and public discourse.
I had discovered a transformative approach to healing and empowerment, one that had profoundly changed my life. Yet, as I witnessed the pain and anger sweeping across communities, I hesitated to share my insights. The rawness of emotions and the intensity of the moment made me fear that my perspective—rooted in personal spiritual growth as a catalyst for social change—might be misunderstood or rejected.
In hindsight, I recognize that this period of collective anguish was a necessary phase in our societal evolution. The tension and pain that so many of us experienced needed to surface and be processed. It was a crucial step in preparing us for the next stage of our journey towards racial healing and justice.
This realization has reinforced my belief in the power of personal transformation as a foundation for broader social change. What seemed like a time of pure crisis was, in fact, setting the stage for a deeper, more holistic approach to addressing racial inequities—one that integrates both inner work and outer action.
Transcendent Social Justice™ platform and our educational arm, Transcend Global Institute, emerged from a profound period of collective introspection and healing. We went through a deliberate process of observation, healing, connection, and action, which formed the foundation of our approach, enabling us to create a platform and institute truly dedicated to transcendent social change.

Curtrice R., before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My journey began unexpectedly with a fibroid diagnosis. Faced with the prospect of a hysterectomy, I chose to explore alternative healing paths, leading me to discover the power of Whole foods nutrition, Veganism, Raw food diets etc. Through these dietary changes, I not only dissolved my fibroids but also experienced significant improvements in my mental and emotional well-being. This success ignited a passionate curiosity within me. Driven by this newfound passion, I pursued formal education, I enrolled in a Traditional Naturopathic school, Studied healing through diet and holistic modalities, Trained in massage therapy and Western herbalism. What began as a journey into wellness gradually expanded into a comprehensive exploration of consciousness studies, Spirituality, and emotional trauma healing.
Today, I support women in their own transformation journeys, utilizing seven pillars of empowerment, including
Wellness reinvention, Meditation, Trauma healing, Mental health support, and legacy building. Through this holistic approach, I guide women to heal, grow, and activate the most empowered versions of themselves.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
There’s a such thing as the Trailblazers Burden. This term speaks to those whose ideas may be ahead of their time. It’s a concept that resonates deeply with me as someone whose ideas often seem to be ahead of the curve. For years, I struggled with this burden. I found myself constantly holding back, making myself smaller, and delaying my projects. I felt misunderstood. The fear of not being “gotten” by others paralyzed me, keeping my innovations locked away.
One of the hardest lessons I’ve had to learn, or rather unlearn, is the need for immediate validation. I realized that I couldn’t always look to others for guidance. My ideas were often leading towards what the collective would only later recognize as valuable. This realization demanded that I cultivate an unwavering belief in myself, courage to stand alone, and tunnel vision toward my goals.
I had to shift my perspective entirely, and it took a lot of internal work. Instead of determining my worth and progress based on external validation, I learned to focus on creating my product and attracting the right clients and community. And yes, they do exist!
As an entrepreneur, I’ve come to understand that the world is actually waiting for my guidance and leadership. I’m not meant to shrink away from new ideas; I’m meant to innovate. Honoring and believing in my vision, even when others don’t immediately understand it, has been one of my greatest challenges.
I no longer hide my innovations; I champion them. I’ve embraced my role as a trailblazer, leading the way toward new possibilities. In doing so, I’ve not only found my own path but have also inspired others to embrace their unique vision.
As with every challenging experience, there is great light on the other slide.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In 2014, I took a leap of faith and moved from Detroit, Michigan, to Los Angeles. I had no idea that this move would become a catalyst for personal and professional growth, testing my resilience and ultimately leading to unexpected triumphs and beautiful relationships.
The financial reality of LA hit me hard! My rent went from a manageable $600 in Detroit to a staggering $2400 in LA. As a newer entrepreneur in the holistic wellness and spiritual mentorship space, I found this sudden increase in living costs overwhelming and stressful.
At that time, my chosen field was viewed skeptically by many as “woo-woo” rather than legitimate healing, adding another layer of complexity. My confidence wavered. I had deep internal instability and fear of the unknown. I knew I had transformative tools to share but could not see the path forward. It’s hard to see when distressed.
My circumstances forced me to take a part-time job; this felt like a step backward, but it was necessary for survival. Even with this, I lacked stable housing. I found myself hopping between budget Airbnbs and crashing on co-workers’ couches. Feelings of failure and confusion engulfed me. I was at my lowest point.
Although I was feeling despair, a realization struck me: these challenges weren’t meant to break me; they were building me. This shift in perspective became my lifeline. I began focusing on gratitude, Gratitude for being in Los Angeles, appreciation of my new job despite it not being my dream role, and gratitude for working with a company with a positive wellness mission.
I made peace with my current situation, stopped self-judgment, and stopped comparing myself to an idealized version of myself. This changed EVERYTHING. Opportunities, people, and possibilities started gravitating towards me, and my Airbnb hosts evolved from mere landlords to friends and supporters…these women, touched by my story and vision, became unexpected angels on my journey; their generosity and soulful presence added immeasurable value to my life. Amidst what many would consider a challenging period, I organized and hosted my first female-focused business and personal development all-day workshop in Venice, California. The event featured the CEO of one of LA’s fastest-growing wellness startups, a world-renowned emotional healing practitioner and sponsorship from top LA wellness food brands. This event had been my vision and business model at that time. The workshop came together beautifully due to my ability to think beyond immediate circumstances and rise to the occasion with love, community support, and self-belief.
Looking back, I realize this experience was both terrifying and exhilarating. It taught me the power of perseverance, the importance of mindset, and the unexpected ways in which opportunities can manifest.
My journey from Detroit to Los Angeles wasn’t just a geographical move, it was a transformative experience that reshaped my perspective on life, business, and personal growth.
