We recently connected with Courtney Wilson and have shared our conversation below.
Courtney, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What were some of the most unexpected problems you’ve faced in your business and how did you resolve those issues?
Being a wedding planner comes with its own set challenges. Not only are you helping couples plan their dream wedding but you are also their emotional support during their time of engagement. Every challenge or problem we face is different when it comes to each couple. Some problems that can come up could have to do with design elements, dealing with an assortment of requests from different family members, helping execute requests from the couple, overall, there are many ways problems can arise. We at Moonstruck Events strive to make the wedding planning process a joyful time for our couples. We make sure that when challenges do pop up, we are on top of them immediately and we make sure that our couples don’t have to stress during wedding planning.

Courtney, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Courtney and I am the owner of Moonstruck Events. Prior to wedding planner I was a teacher and when I got married in 2019, I fell in love with the wedding planning process and knew that it was something I was really passionate about. I decided to take a leap of faith and in 2020, I decided to launch Moonstruck Events. We provide 3 different services for our clients which include comprehensive planning and design, partial planning and design, event management. Each package offers something different and is designed for all couples! My top goal when I opened Moonstruck Events was to celebrate all love and making sure that our couples have a stress free wedding planning experience and have the wedding of their dreams. I believe that we have and are still reaching this goal with every couple that we book.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Opening a business in 2020 during the pandemic is as rough as it sounds. All events were up in the air and it was a scary time to take a leap of faith. Luckily, I had amazing clients who worked with me as I navigated all the changes that occurred in the industry. Even though it has been a few years since the pandemic started, obstacles still arise. The best thing I learned in 2020 was the way you handle challenges matter. In life, there will always be problems that arise and you have to navigate them with the best of your abilities. Being a wedding planner comes with its own set of problems, let alone dealing with a pandemic. I am thankful for the lessons I have learned and the wonderful clients who let me do what I love daily.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media can be so tricky! The algorithm is always changing so it can be hard to keep up with all the changes and new features that are always being rolled out. My best advice is to network with people who are in your niche. As a wedding planner, I follow a lot of local vendors and local planners and also vendors and planners all over the country that inspire my creativity. Another tip I have is to create content that is useful to your audience. As a wedding planner, you have a lot of clients who look at your social media before they hire you and your social media accounts can say a lot about you as a planner. My best advice is to make sure that your content is educational, meaningful, and genuine.
