Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Courtney Roberson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Courtney, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The story behind my mission, I originally started this journey to make ends meet and make some extra money to support my family. It was the beginning of the pandemic and I had just got laid off from my job and didn’t know what to do next. So one night my husband and I were just talking about our whereabouts in the next year or so. And he just said why don’t you start your own business, people see you as trustworthy and respect you. So from then on I was driven to help those like myself. While giving others a chance to provide for their family all while offering a service. Single mothers/fathers, low income families who live pay check to paycheck. Not only do I want to provide tax preparations I also got my license to sell insurance and eventually I want to help those and educate people the importance of financial Freedom and one day become a franchise and have business all over the world.

I’m a mother of 3 who was recently married. I have a degree in Petrochemical technology and could never find a job so I took a job working as a contact or in the refineries. But I wanted a change and to make some extra money because it some things I wanted to do for my family. So I contacted a lady I knew and inquired about preparing taxes and she took me in. So one night my husband talked me into starting my own business. So I managed to start during the middle of the pandemic when I lost my job and had very little money. At first it was just a thing to make some money but then it became my passion. And that was to help those like me working a dead end job, living check to check. What sets me apart from others is I truly love what I do and want to see others succeed and move to the next level. Not only do I just want to prepare their taxes but I also want to teach people how to save and become financially free. I also went and received my license to sell life and health insurance. I just don’t want to be a one woman show I want to have other people as myself come on and be able to provide for their family. I want to build a legacy and have a franchise for my kids and their kids. My clients aren’t just a client they are family and I’m available to them all year round. If they have any questions concerns I’m here to answer I don’t just want to provide a service I want to build a family. I’m here for the long haul.

One of my main objectives when starting this profession was to take my mother traveling over the world and to retire her and buy her a house but she passed away on September and I can’t lie I almost gave up because I didn’t see my purpose anymore I wanted to Throw it all away but with my support system pushing me I decided to continue what I started and now I can’t do the bare mint cause I have my mother watching over me and guiding me and I gave her my word and I’m going to see that I live up to my promise.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson I had to learn in this business was to never take things personal. Its simply business and no one owes you anything or loyalty to you but you. The more you learn and network the better knowledge is key and nothing is free everything comes with a cost.
