We recently connected with Corey Martire and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Corey thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

In 2019 my position was eliminated. I knew I didn’t want to go back into corporate sales. Throughout the years I looked into becoming a dating coach or a sexologist. As someone who has been dating on and off since my divorce, I found people made dating way too hard. I was always a relationship sales person – building my relationships with my clients while identifying gaps in their programs and finding them solutions. I was the friend that people went to for dating and relationship advice. I was the Samantha Jones of the group – no judgement and always willing to try something once. How could I merge these two skills?

Shortly after finding myself unemployed, I started looking into date coaching. I wanted to make people better daters. It was important for me to get some formal training. I became a certified matchmaker and science-based dating coach through the Global Love Institute a year later and I began working there as the Director of Sales, part time instructor, running our monthly masterminds and assisting with our annual Global Love Conferences. My role has changed slightly in the last few months, mainly supporting the Strategy Circle.

Over two years ago I created a collaboration group for matchmakers in the northeast to ultimately help each other strategize their business and ultimately find their clients success.

Long before I founded Corey Lynne Agency, I was always interested in human sexuality. In high school my senior project was about the AIDS epidemic and throughout my four years in college I was a s*x educator. Fast forward to today, I’m currently enrolled in Loveology University’s Certified Love Coach program to become a sexologist. Just last week I became an Independent Consultant at Pure Romance. If I’m coaching and educating people about intimacy with themselves and their partner why not become knowledgable about s*x toys.

My vision has always been to make Corey Lynne Agency a full relationship lifecycle company; date coaching, matchmaking, relationship and s*x coaching, while continuing to support my peers in the offline dating industry. This is how I came up with my title Love Strategist.

Corey, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I found the Global Love Institute. They offer a 12 week certification course for that is self taught and weekly meetings to answer general business questions; what CRM should they utilize, sales and marketing tips. Helping them to identify their niche client.

I also received my Science-Based Dating & Relationship Certification. I studied under Dr. Terri Orbuch. She had one of the first federally funded studies here in the US. She followed over 700 couples for 30+ years. She took her research and wrote three relationship books and put together the course.

Dating is tough. I am currently single and I understand the struggles they are going through. I understand dating apps, the endless swiping, being ghosted. I can relate to my clients and the frustrations that they have.

I recently launched two projects with my business. Body Positivity and 45 Under 45.

Body Positivity:
It was important for me to create this division because traditionally matchmaking has been about wealthy men dating women 15-20 years younger. Many matchmakers won’t take plus size/extended size men and women. I believe everyone has the right to be loved and love. I wanted to see this population represented in our industry.

The National Organization for Women launched Love Your Body Day in 1998 to “campaign to challenge the unrealistic beauty standards and gender stereotypes promoted by the media, Hollywood and the fashion, cosmetics and diet industries.”

According to Harmony Healthcare IT, “Overall, 79% have dealt with negative body image, and 80% of women have called themselves fat.”

I launched my Body Positivity division at Corey Lynne Agency. This division is to accept, encourage and help people of all body types, regardless of gender, size, shape, skin tone and those that are attracted to them have positive dating experiences. In my heart of hearts I feel this is a demographic that has been overlooked in the matchmaking industry.

I’m going to be offering group sessions to discuss dating, confidence building, health and wellness. I recognize that some of us in the Body Positivity community view ourselves as sexy and confident, while others don’t feel that way. I will eventually bring in stylists, food coaches and personal trainers to our monthly meetings. It’s important for me that this community is safe and feels heard. Both men and women are encouraged to participate.

45 Under 45:
I turned 45 on October 9. This year the only celebrating I want to do is to celebrate love.

If you have a Libra in your life, you know we love LOVE. My goal this year is to give back to singles. In honor of my 45th birthday, I’m launching 45 Under 45!

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

Working at the Global Love Institute. I became their Director of Sales. When our instructor Rachel went on maternity leave, I filled in for her and taught the course for four months.

Matchmaking is a very collaborative industry. In the perfect world there would be one database with all the single people, but there isn’t. Many matchmakers have a niche market, so if I’m not the matchmaker for you, I can refer you to someone who is a better fit.

Working at the Institute catapulted me as a subject matter expert in the offline dating industry. I met so many people; through our collaboration efforts, at our conferences, having them speak at our monthly masterminds. I was talking to prospective matchmakers, inquiring about their skills telling them about our industry and setting proper expectations. Teaching them once they became enrolled.

I eventually created a monthly group for our northeast matchmakers to have a sounding board, find matches for our clients.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?

I hired a business coach who I worked with for a year and a half. It was important for me to partner with someone that was an outsider looking in at my business and my industry. I wanted one on one coaching experience, but also group coaching. I wanted an accountability partner and personal cheerleader. He taught me about marketing, improved on my sales process and assisted with my website. He focused on working with entrepreneurs and getting their side gig into their main gig.

Unfortunately he was killed when he was riding his bike. I haven’t been able to find someone to fill his shoes.
