Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to CJ Haynes. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
CJ, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you have an agent or someone (or a team) that helps you secure opportunities and compensation for your creative work? How did you meet you, why did you decide to work with them, why do you think they decided to work with you?
Signing with an agent is one of the biggest hurdles in this industry; it takes time, resources, and the right person to believe in you. What makes my journey special is that it began with prayer. I’ve always loved the arts and the power they have to inspire, and my first speaking role was in a film called *Empty Nets*.
Because of production delays, I ended up rooming with actor Todd Terry. As a Vindication Series fan, getting to know him was surreal. We connected immediately, and during our conversations, he asked if I was signed. I told him I wasn’t.
After I wrapped the shoot, I reached out to him about his agency, Treasure Coast Talent. Within minutes, he added me to a text thread and offered a recommendation. That moment changed everything. I didn’t have a polished headshot or an impressive reel, but I had God who worked it out.
I signed with Treasure Coast Talent for about a year before they retired, and I later joined Legacy Talent Group, who have been incredible.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I fell in love with acting long before I ever stepped onto a film set. It started at my church, performing in front of people I loved, discovering how storytelling could move hearts. From there, I dove into theater at the Manatee Performing Arts Center, spending countless hours onstage and learning how to bring characters to life.
Dance was always part of my world, too. I didn’t have formal training, so I taught myself by watching YouTube tutorials, learning different styles of hip‑hop, and letting movement become another way to express myself.
For years, everything I did was for fun, small gigs here and there. But 2024 was the turning point. That was the year I stepped into film professionally, started booking projects, and truly began working in the craft.
Through all of it, my mindset has stayed the same: I want to honor the Lord in every part of this journey. I’m intentional about choosing roles that carry hope, redemption, or a message that uplifts. My goal isn’t just to perform, it’s to create work that reflects light.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
One of the most rewarding parts of this craft is seeing people genuinely inspired or encouraged by the work you create. When someone watches a film and feels something shift..that’s a gift. And on the creative side, it means a lot when other peers in the industry recognize the talent you bring to the table.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
One of the best ways to support the film world is to start right where you are. Connect with local film companies, student filmmakers, and independent creators. Support doesn’t always have to be financial; we often think it does, but there are so many other ways to contribute.
If you have a space someone could use as a filming location, offer it. If you’re interested in investing in film, you don’t have to look far; sometimes, the most meaningful opportunities are happening right in your area. Lastly, support by watching, streaming, and sharing.
