We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cinnamon White a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Cinnamon, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?

What I think it takes to be successful business owner is determination, leadership, flexibility, creativity, self-confidence and passion. You must have a vision and execute it . Also what I think it takes to be a successful business owner is risk taking. Risk taking encourages innovation. Business owners who take risks learn to develop resilience, tenacity and the capacity to recover from challenges, all of which are essential for sustained success.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

My name is Cinnamon White from Fort Lauderdale,FL. I started my floral business November 2024 ,
What made me start my business is my mom. She passed away March 16,2023 and I was in a very dark place just trying to find myself again and I wanted to keep my mom name a live .
I was in bed brainstorming what can I do and I came up with being a florist . I named my business after my mom Paula’s Garden. I have always loved flowers and plants . I would always buy my mom, grandmother and myself flowers often. I believe in giving people their flowers while they can still smell them.
The services I provide at this time is rose bouquet, vase arrangements, sympathy arrangements. I’m looking into doing weddings and party events in the near future. I think what sets me apart from other florist how creative I am with my rose bouquet. I can recreate any character with roses .
What I’m most proud of is that I’m self taught black owned florist and I’m doing well in this field . I’m great-full for all the support I have been receiving so far . Thank you 🩷

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

How I built my audience from social media was I created a business page for my business and I would do rose bouquet for free starting off and give them to my family friends and I would get content and post everyday from my personal page and business page . Also my family and friends would post my business page for people to follow. I also did a give away and with the give away people had to follow my business page in order to enter the giveaway.
Also post content everyday. Even if you don’t get no like or 1 like people see your work . Be consistent and post something everyday.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

I feel what helped me build my reputation in the floral industries is how nice and neat my work is and how creative I am with my bouquet . I take pride in my work and what I present to the world .
