We were lucky to catch up with Cindy Williams recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Cindy, thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
The idea to preserve Texas’s cultures, people, history, and regions through the lens of food came to me when I realized how little many Texans knew about their own state—and how even less newcomers understood. I saw an opportunity to tell these stories in a meaningful way by cooking alongside individuals who each represent a unique facet of Texas.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I want people to discover the remarkable Texans who embody the Texas spirit in their own unique ways. Through the recipes we share, my hope is to tell their stories and celebrate the rich culture that makes this state so special. Just as important to me is the idea that good food should help us live well. I’m passionate about staying healthy through nourishing meals and consistent movement so we can fully enjoy all that Texas has to offer.
Many of the recipes I share come from my own kitchen and are chosen to support a vibrant, balanced lifestyle. At the end of the day, though, my greatest joy is inspiring people to gather — to bring friends and family around a home-prepared meal in a setting that invites warmth, connection, and meaningful conversation.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
My biggest aha moments almost always happen in the kitchen, side by side with someone who has an incredible story to tell—which, I’ve discovered, is just about everyone I’ve ever cooked with. Each shared dish teaches me something new, not only about their lives and experiences, but also about how to move through the kitchen with a little more ease and confidence.
It’s become deeply important to me to pass those stories—and the practical kitchen wisdom that comes with them—along to others. For anyone who didn’t grow up with a mentor at the stove, I hope what I share helps fill that gap and opens the door to the simple, lasting joy of preparing fresh meals at home
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
One of the most valuable resources in growing my work has been tapping into the world of virtual assistance. Along the way, I’ve partnered with video editors through these services, and each experience has reinforced just how seamless and professional the process can be. Over the years I’ve worked with three different editors, and every transition has been smooth—allowing me to stay focused on the storytelling and the kitchen while knowing the technical side is in capable hands.
