We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chyna McCoy. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chyna below.
Chyna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My Father encouraged and enforced my creativity by supplying me with Comic Books the cartoon section from the Sunday Paper, buying me paint brushes and pencils/paper. Calling me in the house every Saturday for Kung Fu theater. Allowing me to watch every cartoon and anime that existed back in those days.
This all played a part of my growth as an entertainer and creative that i am today.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Well I’m East Coast born. West Coast Re-born. Raised on Comics, Anime’, Kung-Fu Movies and cartoons. A Healthy diet on Star Trek, Battle-Star galactica, Star Wars along with Frankenstein, werewolf, Creature from the Black Lagoon and Godzilla and Mothra Movies. I come from the actual generation of Nerds the OG version.
I ran around the house in Under Roos (Google it) it will surprise you.
I come from the generation of Atari, Qbert, Asteroids, PacMan and all the Old School Video Games. The Movie era of my time was when 1 movie stayed in theaters for Months on end and then it went to the cheaper theaters where we would watch it over and over again.
I guess what i am saying, in the end, all this back History of my Nerdism, groomed me well for Hollywood in a good way. And this is what inspired me to get up one day when i got the universal download from God and sent me on my way on a Greyhound Bus from one side of the Coast to the other to chase my Dream.
Once i touched down in Hollywood I slept on the Beach of Venice and worked on any and all shows, films and commercials that came to Venice Beach. This led me to working on one of the biggest films in film History The Matrix & Reloaded
want to know more I wrote 2 books one called My Journey Through The Matrix, The Man in The Mirror and Hey Mr. I’m Just an Extra.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part as a creative is being creative because we find a path of creating in everything we see. Our mindset is always creating something that will improve society. Being an artist can be frustrating because most times people do not realize the way we think is never on the logical path but on the creative path.
Where you see a Dead end we see a multitude of directions.
Where you see no purpose we see the purposes you already enjoy from us creatives and here are new ones for you.
so in the end for me the most rewarding part is watching people benefit from what makes your Dreams their reality

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal and mission is to create a creative outlet for people like myself who feel like they can or could never do it. Also i was never taught how to quit so this is something I would love to instill in others who have no hope but really want to share their creativeness with the world as well.
