We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christian Mills a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Christian, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
In the summer of 2023, I felt God prompting my to create a digital women’s ministry. I will be honest and say that I was open to the idea but also thought that it was one of those things that I would eventually get to. Then I encountered several challenges over the next few months that flipped my life upside down, and in the midst of that hard season, God kept bringing starting this women’s ministry back to my spirit. Again, I was open to it. I knew God, and I was committed to walking in my purpose. But I was also nervous. There are women who don’t have any faith in women’s groups, events, or organizations because they’ve been hurt by other women in them or who were supposed to be apart of them to be empowered but they experienced the opposite. Then you have women who have experienced church hurt. I just wasn’t sure between both of those things, if there was an audience of women who wanted to be in community drawn together by the desire to become who God purposed them to be and to create the things God was calling them to create.
However, I started. I started the weekly Purpose PUSH weekly newsletter to encourage women walking in purpose in November 2023. Then I started the digital women’s community in February 2024, empowering women to walk in purpose in community with boldness, strategy, and accountability. Later, I started adding intimate events…and to my surprise we’ve done an event in Charlotte and Delaware this year. We’ve had women join the digital community from states all up and down the East coast, and we have a few West coast members as well. Turns out, there are women of God who were desiring a safe, empowering, and transformational women’s ministry community after all.

Christian, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am PK, which means Pastor’s Kid. For the longest I have known that I was called to ministry, and for the majority of my 31 years of life, I dodged that call. Growing up people always assume that one of or all of the Pastors’ kids will go into ministry, and I just knew that wouldn’t be the case for me. My parents are pastors of an amazing church, with amazing people. However, I saw the level of intentionality, spirituality, the weight, and the warfare that came with the call on their lives, and I simply didn’t want it.
After spending a solid 29 years serving at comfortable levels but avoiding giving my whole YES and being fully available to God and the ways that He may want to use me, I did give Him my whole YES as I entered my 30s. Looking back on it, it now doesn’t surprise me that He gave me this vision for PPC just about a year later. I have always had a relationship with God, and I have always enjoyed serving others in and outside of church, but there was a shift when I gave God my whole YES and surrendered to allowing my life to be used for Him. It’s from that place that Purpose PusHER Co. was birthed. In saying yes to walking in my purpose and living out that journey, it led to me creating a community for women doing the same.
Since creating PPC, the thing I’m most proud of is the transformation in the lives of the women in my Digital Community. I have seen women who knew one bible verse who desired to know more, memorize them and live them out. I have seen women build deeper relationships with God and spiritual routines. I have seen women accept the love of God that is available to them everyday. And I’ve seen women meet other women in their city, state, or region and build genuine friendships and community outside of PPC. What’s happening through this ministry blows my mind and I’m grateful for all that God is doing.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
For women or men walking in or walking out their purpose or who are leading others in doing so, I think the most helpful thing for succeeding in this spiritual work is having a dedicated spiritual routine and a true heart posture of surrender to God. It is so important that we intentionally take time daily to spend time with God and seek Him for ourselves before we seek Him and purpose to teach or lead others. Above all else, a heart of surrender and prioritizing obedience is important because once we surrender our lives to God and truly let God lead, we have to be willing to surrender our plans for God’s plans. We have to be willing to move when He says move, and be still when God says be still.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
There are several spiritual resources that have impacted my journey and leadership in this ministry space.
My favorite online pastors to watch are Dr. Dharius Daniels, Sarah Jakes-Roberts, and Brenda Palmer. I love Dr. Jackie Green too. These are all powerful leaders and the way teach the word of God has been very impactful for me. Getting to see what it looks like to live a life committed to ministry and in obedience to God up close and personal is something that I have to thank my parents for.
There are two books that I’ve read in the last year that have been extremely impactful for me as a spiritual leader. The first is called Spirit Filled Life by Charles Stanley and the second is The Awe of God by John Bevere. Both have been mind blowing and life altering for me. They have both led to me prioritizing obedience and obeying God at greater levels than I ever have before in my life.
