We recently connected with Christen Ruiz and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Christen thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
My defining professional moment came when I attempted to return to a career field I had spent 15 years building in the autism space, only to find doors closed due to a prior working relationship. That experience taught me to trust my instincts. When something feels off, it’s critical to listen and remove myself from the situation. Ultimately, professional decisions aren’t about what others think; they’re about choosing myself and what’s best for my business.

Christen , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into this field because friends and family were constantly asking me for advice, and I realized I could turn that gift into my own business. With a master’s degree in psychology, emphasizing applied behavior analysis, and a deep understanding of trauma-informed practices, I bring both professional expertise and personal insight to my work. A friend once said I “rose like a phoenix through the ashes,” which inspired The Phoenix Code Method, where I serve as Speaker, Author, and Founder. Through this method, I provide nervous system regulation grounded in psychology, blending somatic healing with trauma-informed techniques. I help women identify where trauma resides in the body and release it, guiding them to respond instead of react, step fully into their authentic selves, and break free from societal expectations.
My passion for empowerment is deeply personal. I am a mother of two and a daughter inspired by my own mother, who broke glass ceilings in tech the nineties. True transformation does not happen without the work, but the results, the confidence, authenticity, and freedom, are absolutely worth it.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Getting sober forced me to face my emotions head-on and learn to regulate myself without relying on substances. It was messy, challenging, and uncomfortable, but sitting with that discomfort is what brought me here, stronger, grounded, and fully present in my own life.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
Absolutely, yes. I would choose this path 1000 times over. Helping women break free from societal expectations and step into their authentic selves brings a level of fulfillment that no other career could match. Combining my background in psychology and my role as Speaker, Author, and Founder of The Phoenix Code Method allows me to make a meaningful impact every day. True empowerment takes work, but witnessing that transformation makes every challenge worth it.
