We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chris Salerno a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Chris thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Success is a blend of resilience, purpose, and a willingness to embrace growth. I believe success isn’t just about achieving goals but about the journey, the persistence to overcome obstacles, and the drive to keep learning and adapting. I chose the latter, leaning into the challenges, collaborating closely with my team, and seeking mentorship. That situation taught me that success isn’t about a flawless path but about how you handle the bumps along the way.
To me, success comes from the commitment to evolve, develop resilience, and stay aligned with your purpose.

Chris, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Early in his career, Chris achieved notable success, transacting over $40 Million in real estate volume. His leadership played a pivotal role in leading the #1 real estate team in the Carolinas, contributing to an annual sales volume exceeding $140 Million.
In 2019, Mr. Salerno founded QC Capital and has since acquired over $300 Million in commercial real estate assets and expanded its investor database to over 550 investors across the globe. As CEO, Mr. Salerno oversees all business operations and is responsible for the firm’s overall direction and strategy. Chris Salerno’s outstanding contributions to the industry have earned him recognition on prestigious lists, including Charlotte’s 30 under 30, Elite 50, Elite 50 Entrepreneurs, and 30 under 30 Entrepreneurs. He has also received nominations for Forbes 30 under 30 in both 2018 and 2020.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
To manage a team and keep morale high, lead with empathy, recognize individual strengths, and regularly show appreciation. Keep communication open and transparent so everyone feels connected to the bigger picture. Listen actively, encourage feedback, and support growth opportunities. When people feel valued and aligned with team goals, morale naturally follows.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Certainly. A key pivot for QC Capital was shifting our focus from smaller multifamily properties to larger, projects such as our QC Car Wash Funds. We saw the potential for greater value and impact, but this meant rethinking our strategy, processes, and partnerships to operate at a higher level. While challenging, this change positioned us for sustainable growth and allowed us to deliver more value to our investors, reinforcing that the biggest opportunities often come from embracing strategic shifts.
