Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chris Randle. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Chris, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
Your dad going missing is something you never think would happen to you. That’s a crime drama episode, not real life. It started on Sunday July 31st 2016 with a phone call from my mom and a phrase that I never thought I’d hear, I don’t know where your dad is. That started a 6 month search for my missing father. It ended with the horrible news that my dad had been murdered. I had only been coaching for 2 years and I was still building my practice. I wanted to help people build their confidence. Now mine and my family’s was being shaken. It’s weird how a tragedy like that shapes you and the direction you’re headed. I went from helping people build confidence to helping people cope with life and develop emotional regulation. 10 years later my coaching career is still being built. Life doesn’t stop and sometimes it is extremely hard to handle. But it is possible to move forward and get through the situation. It will be hard. You will have to grow and accept and shift. But it is possible.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a fan of people. I want people to grow and learn be confident enough to live life without shrinking to fear or hard times or disappointments. I turned my ability to listen into working to support individuals and offering insight so they can be aware of their emotions and respond better in situations and relationships. Our work together is about locating where you are in your life and emotional space and creating a strategy to build your emotional regulation and healthy mentality so you can respond confidently. I blend professional depth with the actual knowledge of why you fail in the moment and how to change that. It’s not insight and information only. It’s insight plus action. That’s what sets me apart. I’m most excited about not just the results that we’re working to accomplish but the new person and the possibilities that can come from that. Out work together is difficult, it takes patience and practice and it is worth it.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
I have had training and am still in training and schooling to gain more knowledge and expertise. But I used to chase it so it can validate me. Training should be in part, connected to how much you want to grow, not to automatically show how good you are. Arguably the main thing in this industry is your ability to center the client. Are you doing what you’re doing to help and support the client? If not, your credentials don’t matter. If you are, your credentials help you do that. There are people that are bad at helping work with credentials and people who are phenomenal at helping work without them. Let your knowledge help you take care of the client.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I never thought that I would continue my training by going to a University. I thought I would continue and just learn more and more through other means. But my interest in learning more and more kept leading me to a degree. I continued to learn more and more and help client after client but I eventually came to the conclusion that I can do what I am doing and more with University level training. That was 3 years ago and it has been very true in my work. This route has taught my so much and lead me to populations that I had no idea that I would reach. From couples to athletes to C-suite level employees. I’m grateful that a kept on entertaining the idea of what I could offer to people and to this field.
