We were lucky to catch up with Chris Powerz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Chris, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I am heavily inspired by purpose projects. I think that art inherently creates meaningful experiences and that meaning becomes much more complex when the art is created with intention. Personally, I create my own projects with detailed ideas in mind to convey both a good feeling vibe and some intellectual stimulation at the same time.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Artistry is a medium, and my own artistry is one of many. I am extremely passionate about creating and sharing ideas with the world, but my focus with music isn’t based around the reception of the art itself. On my journey I hope to show others love, understanding, and guidance through enticing sounds and ethereal experiences. My ultimate goal is to create a safe space for a community of people who seek growth and understanding while also helping whoever I can along the way.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Being an artist in its entirety requires resilience. I’ve been creating art for 15 years and around every corner is an obstacle that induces self doubt. There have been multiple times in my career where I’ve failed so consistently that I wanted to quit forever. After a while you start seeing small wins that almost don’t seem worth the pain and rejection that you forgo, but those wins eventually add up. It’s a slow process, but eventually you do begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of being an artist for me is when supporters communicate the impact your art has made on their life. It’s forsure reassuring and kind of lights the fire to continue going forward. It’s nice to know when you’re reaching someone, especially when you put so much effort and energy into your craft.
