Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chinaza Nwogu. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Chinaza, appreciate you joining us today. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
I remember how special it felt to book my first client who had no personal connection to me. Up until then, my business was built on friends, family, and referrals within my circle—but I knew real growth meant someone choosing me purely based on my brand.
I had been consistently showing up online, sharing my work and treating every event with intention. One day, I received an inquiry from a bride I had never met before. No mutual connections—she had simply found my page and connected with what she saw.
We had a consultation, and I gave it everything I had. When she said she wanted to move forward, I felt a mix of excitement and disbelief. When that first payment came through, it wasn’t just income—it was validation.
It meant my work could stand on its own. And that moment gave me the confidence to keep building the business I have today.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Chinaza, and I am the founder of Beauty of Life Events, a wedding planning and coordination company dedicated to curating seamless, elevated, and deeply meaningful celebrations.
My journey into this industry began organically, rooted in a natural passion for organization, design, and bringing people together. What started as planning events within my personal circle quickly evolved into something greater as I recognized the impact thoughtful planning can have on such significant life moments. I intentionally built Beauty of Life Events to serve clients beyond my immediate network, creating a brand centered on excellence, trust, and experience.
I was honored to be named Wedding Planner of the Year at the AfroCentrik TV Awards and to be recognized as an Influential Woman by the Influential Women Network. These recognitions reflect not only my dedication to my craft but also the impact my work continues to have within the community and the clients I & my team serve.
We specialize in full-service planning, partial planning, and wedding day management, with a particular focus on multicultural and multi-day weddings. These celebrations often involve intricate logistics, multiple ceremonies, and large guest counts, and we pride ourselves on bringing structure, clarity, and calm to every detail.
At its core, our work is about creating peace of mind. Wedding planning can be overwhelming, and our role is to ensure our clients feel supported, confident, and fully present throughout the entire process. We manage the moving parts, anticipate challenges, and execute each event with precision so our clients can truly enjoy their celebration.
What sets Beauty of Life Events apart is our intentionality. We take the time to understand each client’s vision, values, and cultural traditions, and we translate that into an experience that feels both personal and elevated. Our approach goes beyond coordination, we become trusted partners, advocates, and a steady presence throughout the journey.
One of the things I am most proud of, outside of having the best team in the world, is the evolution of the brand, from humble beginnings serving friends and family to becoming a trusted name that clients confidently invest in. That growth represents consistency, dedication, and a commitment to excellence in every event we touch.
I want potential clients to know that working with Beauty of Life Events means more than hiring a planner, it means having a team that is deeply invested in your experience. Our goal is simple: to ensure that when your wedding day arrives, you are able to be fully present, celebrate freely, and create memories that last a lifetime.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One lesson I had to unlearn was how I approached bringing out the best in my clients’ weddings.
Early on, I viewed planning as more structured—there were tasks assigned, preferred vendors I trusted, and a process I believed would consistently produce great results. While that system worked, over time I realized that it didn’t always allow space for the individuality of each client.
As I gained more experience, I learned that wedding planning is truly a collaborative effort. Every client is different, their vision, their preferences, their cultural influences, and even how they make decisions. I began to understand that my role wasn’t just to guide them through a process, but to meet them where they are and help bring their unique vision to life.
This also meant unlearning the idea that my preferred vendor list was always the best fit. While those relationships are valuable, I’ve learned that sometimes the right vendor for a specific client may exist outside of that list. Being open to exploring new options has allowed me to create more personalized and meaningful experiences.
That shift changed everything. It allowed me to become more flexible, more client-focused, and more intentional in how I serve. Now, instead of fitting clients into a system, I build the experience around them, and that’s where the best results truly come from.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
One moment that really tested my ability to pivot happened during a wedding where everything was running smoothly, until it suddenly wasn’t.
About 30 minutes before the room reveal, the cake vendor arrived to set up. As she was bringing the cake in, she tripped, and the entire cake fell flat on the floor. In that moment, panic could have easily taken over, but I knew that wouldn’t solve anything. I had to think quickly.
Thankfully, I had built strong relationships within my vendor network. I immediately called a fellow vendor friend whose warehouse was just around the corner. I knew she kept beautifully designed dummy cakes on display. Without hesitation, she dropped everything to help. I sent one of my team members to meet her, pick up a cake, and bring it back as quickly as possible.
Meanwhile, the original cake was moved out of sight, and within minutes, we had the dummy cake set and styled just in time, literally three minutes before the room reveal.
The couple had no idea anything had happened. They walked into their reception, saw a beautifully styled space, and enjoyed their moment exactly as planned. It wasn’t until after the reveal that I quietly walked them through our alternative plan for the cake cutting.
That experience reinforced something I truly believe: successful events aren’t just about planning, they’re about preparation, adaptability, and relationships. Building strong connections with vendors is everything, because you never know when you’ll need a team to come together and make the impossible happen seamlessly.
